Suggest changing title to josh's well-contributed post Top star

GTB 09-28-2011 10:18 AM

yeah just reset, but what i have started to do is log the ip address and the date

if it has been used before on another account but it was months ago then i would use it

the risk is f you log into two separate accounts with the same ip one after another or same day and they have other things that will link you, same name, similar address, selling same items etc

just keep everything separate just to be on the safe side!

for my old ebay accounts i got all ym email delivered to my blackberry, if i reply to questions through my blackberry that uses GPRS connection, how does this work regarding IP? images etc and tracking? or is it best not to use the blackberry at all? its just its so convienient...but if it puts me at risk i will do it the old school way :L
Kind Regards

GTB 09-28-2011 10:36 AM

i cant really comment too much on this but i know you still need to take the ip address into consideration

someone will be able to advise further

Yep, in case of getting the same IP.

Before you get into this stealth, you should consider having an excel file with every single piece of info especially as you are considering more than one account.

Have password, DOB, secret questions etc all logged in excel. That helps keep you organized.:juggle:

Enjoying a big jug of sangria & plate of tapas, then putting wrong info on an ebay account makes a disaster ;)

I'm a recent convert to Blackberry but I only use my main accounts email on it. The rest can wait until I return. I too would like to know if you could answer more than one account and not get linked

GTB 09-28-2011 11:24 AM

on my android i have all my account email address attached so i know when i get a question etc

but i never email back using my phone

heard someone say before that you gotta change ip like when you are changing accounts

it would be good if you could answer all emails via your phone but surely they can track you:doh:

There you go again Granny.

Partying instead of working.

OP- the best advice one can give is to go slow and learn as much as you can before you jump in. Too many times people get bits and pieces of info without working a little harder and get themselves into trouble.

josh 09-28-2011 12:28 PM

but if i just open the emails on my blackberry but dont reply, my blackberry will open the images and hence track me through imaging? or is this ok thorugh a blackberry connected using GPRS? this would be really helpful if you could advise a little further about this, thanks!

GTB 09-28-2011 12:38 PM

i use gmail only and do not click on any links or open any images, just read the messages and go do the replies on your pc/mac just to be safe

would be good if someone can confirm it is okay but cant see it

am sure to reply to an ebay message via your smart phone you would be kind of logged into ebay!

anyone know a definite answer to this?

i am wondering the same thing if i can check stealth email on smartphones

oompaloompa 09-28-2011 02:47 PM

is there an option for you to keep images switched OFF, like on gmail firefox? if so, go for that and you should be able to open email safely.

josh 09-28-2011 03:00 PM

i think there is an option to switch images off, however all email from all accounts would be sending to one device, which assumingly would have the same IP, therefore would they not be linking together?, and you say it will be ok to "read" the messages...what d you think about replying to them? or is it better to log into ebay and reply to the messages that way?
thanks

oompaloompa 09-28-2011 03:16 PM

pics are mainly a cookie thing for linkages, although I did hear that flash cookies can somehow grab your IP, unsure if that is true..by device you mean PC or phone? well keep images switched off. Log in to ebay? no need, plus thats going to up your risk of linkage slip ups...

josh 09-28-2011 03:35 PM

by device i meant my phone in this instance, and then log onto my ebay messages through the PC once i have received email, through my phone? thanks

oompaloompa 09-28-2011 03:44 PM

just read your buyer questions and ebay messages on your email, no need to log in, you can reply to buyers via email anyway.

GTB 09-28-2011 03:47 PM

aww nice one

it dont matter about ip address or anything

so the message will just go to there email address, not ebay messages

josh 09-29-2011 03:20 AM

ok so replying to buyers on my one blackberry that will have lets say 5email addresses linked to it for different ebay accounts does not expose me?
many thanks again oompa

GrannyT 09-29-2011 06:03 AM

Whoa - of course it will expose you - think about it - you cannot reply to five different ebay accounts through one signal without getting linked:doh:

You read your emails and messages on your Blackberry. You then go on your PC and go into your email account and answer your messages

YOU THEN CHANGE IP AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ACCOUNT - YOU CHANGE IP
AND then move on to the next account

Think logically - you cannot deal with more than one account without changing your log in details:doh:

josh 09-29-2011 07:34 AM

ok, thanks oompa, so by replying to all emails via my blackberry im not linking the accounts?
