Receiving a gift payment on stealth pp

hi all,my sister wants to send around £2000 to my stealth paypal ,is it going be safe??

she is in canada and her account in 100% legit.

rsot 11-11-2011 10:25 AM

That kind of amount is always dangerous ESPECIALLY when there are many other ways to get the cash. Is the 2k in her pp only?

GREEN LION 11-11-2011 10:31 AM

no the money is in the bank account that attached to her paypal.

if its really risky i just tell her to send it to my bank account.

what is a good/fast option in your opinion?

rsot 11-11-2011 10:37 AM

Good option is DIRECT bank to bank - safer too. PP is an UNNECESSARY middleman - DO NOT USE THEM.

Bank to bank will take about 2 days tops - sometimes faster but DEFINITELY reliable.

GREEN LION 11-11-2011 10:42 AM

I'll go with direct bank to bank then.

Or she could use a Money Sending Service such as Western Union or Money Gram. Although that way you'll get the payment instantly if not within a few hours, but they do have conversion + service charges which shouldn't be much.

rsot 11-11-2011 11:23 AM

munrz makes a good point on WU or Money Gram - most of the time though, their fees are higher but it is faster. I like bank to bank for lower fee option.

GTB 11-11-2011 11:39 AM

money gram cheaper than wu

bank best option though

GREEN LION 11-11-2011 12:19 PM

Great,thanks for the info

If it's a Bank to Bank transfer a few things come into play:

1) Are both the banks of the same company? If not you will pay a higher transfer fee since the banks are in a different countries.

2) She would probably send you the funds in $$$ through her bank whereas your bank account may or may not be in $$$ so there will be a conversion charge from $$$ to £££

And a few other things which I can't remember right now.

I'd suggest you guys talk to each of your banks and sort the details before the transfer.

OMG do not even think of using paypal with your sister, use bank transfer.

GREEN LION 11-12-2011 06:40 AM

no its fine now,i talk with her and we are doing the bank transfer.

GTB 11-12-2011 07:56 AM

i know paypals greedy little eyes would pop out to that kind of money

FandangoKango 11-14-2011 04:21 AM
