| | | flylow | 12-08-2011 06:04 PM | Paypal Bank Account Verification Question has anyone ever seen this before...
paypal makes the 2 small deposits and 1 debit to new checking account...
Previous account balance $350.00
Paypal deposit 1) .11 $350.11
Paypal deposit 2) .02 $350.13
Paypal debit 1) -.13 $350.00
Current account balance $350.00
my concerns is that they now have the name of the account when the "debit"
went back to them....
thank you for any response to this issue |

| newjerseymax | 12-12-2011 08:26 PM | I was actually going to ask the same thing...But used search first... tada |
| doughboykilla | 12-13-2011 12:31 AM | So Pp must be trying to find out whos names in really on the banks used on the pp's |
| BiN4RY | 12-13-2011 12:59 AM | Can you guys do me an experiment and try attaching a Savings account?
If Paypal is moral enough, they shouldn't withdrawal from it because lots of people uses high interest savings account, and withdrawing from it = large fine |
| GreenBean | 12-13-2011 01:30 AM | why has no one asked a pertinent question?
Which bank is involved and what type of account?
Been a couple of similar things for the UK.....
let's dissect this :suspicious: |
I don't like the sound of this, I am hoping experienced users will add their insight into this.:juggle: |
| Mzgr3k0 | 12-13-2011 08:03 AM | Ok well I'm waiting for my bank account to be verified . Should have the deposits in their tomorrow . Will let u know how it goes |
| Hercules | 12-13-2011 08:48 AM | I have sent money back into Paypal a couple of times, for a couple of accts for a large refund cropping up (thieves). Those accts are still running. Happened months ago. |
| Stigger | 12-13-2011 12:13 PM | Did you have to add a credit/debit card to the account ?
thats how they get/used to get there micro's back on the two account i had it happen to me on, i did not have to add card.
So maybe there testing the water on a new method. |
Which bank is important - maybe both of you post the bank and see if it matches up. The problem with the DEBIT part is that YES the true account holder could be seen.
Also I think pp is just being cheap-a$$ again - I mean if they debit the 2 amounts then they have not lost money - typical cheapskates. |
| Mzgr3k0 | 12-13-2011 02:32 PM | So they only made two deposits with me. They havent taken money out..
Its a savings account , note sure if that makes any difference.
Question.: why are u not able to use a credit card with your own name for eB ay and pp? |
| flylow | 12-13-2011 02:35 PM | after confering with the other forum user who experienced this, it was determined that it happened at two different banks...
by the way, my account was a regular checking account |
| HurricaneHuntr | 12-13-2011 02:41 PM | I have had them give eBay echecks before since I never leave much in there... never a issue .. believe me if PayPal wanted to know about you they could by just calling the bank. But they don't. They IMO are just being cheap

| Stigger | 12-14-2011 01:55 AM | once with halifax and once with natwest. |

| GreenBean | 12-14-2011 02:51 AM | Yeah, privacy laws count for zilch. If paypal want to find out info, they will play dirty to find it out.
Still waiting to hear which bank???? :juggle: |
@MzGr - although your q is off of the thread (lil hi'jacker ha) Q: Question.: why are u not able to use a credit card with your own name for eB ay and pp?
You can use the credit card but name would have to be entered as the name of the eb/pp. Has to (or should be) registered to that account address.
/end of derail.
Back to the main thread - I wonder if pp is targetting specific banks and STATES with this deposit-withdraw test... |
This is very interesting I think pp is making sure that it's not a prepaid bank and withdraw can happen ..........
similar to Square as they do this procedure. They make sure they can deposit and withdraw and see the name of the account. With Square your account isn't verified unless they do the deposit and withdraw.
I think it happened to the OP randomly as they are implimenting it for the new year. This is huge no more prepaid banks unless it's the few that works or VBA and they can see the mismatching names right away..... |

| Sounds like something major is afoot at PP land & we are barely aware of it or have any counter measures in place.... |

we will start a forum charity and pay you for your undercover mission |
| Mrs_Rodz | 12-15-2011 12:48 PM | This is scary :mad2: I'm trying to get the b@lls to make my first stealth account--I don't need this right now! I guess I had better get off my butt and get going, huh? I'll let you guys know if I see the debit on my bank. Also, I just might have info on another bank that is useful for those on Chexsystems (AKA the devil LOL). I want to make sure everything is kosher though before I get everyone all excited over nothing.
Ohhhh I hope this isn't a new way to weed us out :pry: |
With testing comes more experience - nothing to be scared of. If you fail - you redo and learn. |
| Mrs_Rodz | 12-17-2011 07:25 PM | Well, I just had to confirm my bank account because I got a new PP debit card in the mail and I guess I have to do that before I can activate it. I will let you guys know if they do the two credits and then a debit. I hope not, because the bank account is in my husband's name so they might see a mismatched name. I know that this bank isn't picky about mismatched names, because I just got my student loan reimbursement in his account with no problems and that's in my name of course. I hope this doesn't screw me up because it is my main PP account that my clients pay me through for my freelance work--that's why the debit card is so important.
Has anyone else had debits taken out recently? |
| Mrs_Rodz | 12-20-2011 05:05 PM | I got my two deposits today and so far no debit. I hope that's a good sign. My account is with Banco Popular. |
| accutinting | 12-20-2011 11:17 PM | This is very interesting..I am waiting on paypal to verify 2 checking accts at woodforest 2 saving at woodforest 1 check at Citizens and 1 saving at Citizens. Keep everyone updated with outcome |
| accutinting | 12-20-2011 11:18 PM | Sorry forgot also 1 saving account at BOA s well. let everyone know shortly |
@Mrs_Rodz - you got a pp debit card? Interesting.
Don't worry too much about the debit - you are just beginning with new accounts - focus on that. |

Don't worry too much about the debit - you are just beginning with new accounts - focus on that. | Yeah, I have a debit card on a PP account that I have had for probably 8+ years. I really can't afford for that one to go down. That's why I'm going stealth to sell on EB--don't want to mess with the big daddy PP account . |

I can see where you are now coming from with regards to stealthing as well.
:pop2: |
| TLSunny | 12-23-2011 12:09 PM | I set up 3 stealth pp accounts today, one with halifax and 2 with co-operative, and all three mentions the usual 2 deposits scenario. I shall confirm everything went ok in a few days | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 12:04 PM. | |
