| | | shoot2kill | 01-14-2012 12:49 PM | Missing 70+ packages! Screwed By USPS, Now losing $1,000 and my items! ...so last I dropped off about 70+ items at the Post Office. Never had an issue where my items disappeared but by why all 70+ items!? Now all customers are complaining and requesting their Money Back! I called USPS but they redirect me to the Post Office! I call them up and they telling they cant do anything. Complained a bit and the jerk told me to bring in the receipt for the labels. I can not bring them today but I will sure will on MONDAY! This is some bull, have any others been screwed by USPS like this!? |
| FandangoKango | 01-14-2012 12:53 PM | Wow, how could you lose so many packages and by the post office? What did you do wrong? Maybe stealth address or what? I bet your customers are pissed. I have never been screwed by post office like that. Did you drop them off at a box or you went to a real post office or some thirday party post officer? |
| Ebayorbust | 01-14-2012 01:37 PM | Hope it works out for you. Keep us updated on what happens.
Good luck. |
| BiN4RY | 01-14-2012 01:59 PM | Are these tracked? |
| LoopHole | 01-14-2012 02:46 PM | My first question is how did you drop these off? Did anyone pick them up from you right away or were they left on a counter somewhere? |
| Sandy D | 01-14-2012 02:51 PM | I have had this happen also.
I sold a ton of stuff during December and many days had 300-400 packages a day sitting on my porch.
Many packages still today were never found. They show scanned but never went anywhere after that.
I had to issue refunds because buyers believe once the post office has the package it is still your responsibility. |

| slapped | 01-14-2012 03:14 PM | I had a few issues with USPS this season,,,I have 12 Packages still "Missing" but NOT 70,,
I only had 2 Customers Complain and I reshipped,,The others Im QUITE Sure Arrived but were Never Scanned, the Problem with "Delivery Confirmation" is that the number is NOT really a Tracking Number, it is actually Delivery Confirmation Number.
The difference is that a Tracking number gets scanned at EVERY Stop it makes on its way to its Final Destination, so you can actually see where the package is any time, Delivery confirmation numbers are ONLY required to be Scanned when the leave the local post office where the package is to be Delivered, at that time the Postal computer system, because it knows the Original zip code where the Package started out, fills in the Whole route.
Any additional scans are a "Bonus",,,,,MANY times packages NEVER get Scanned,,,I have also seen Packages sit in corners of both the local Post office and Sorting centers Kind of Forgotten until some comes along and drops then on the Conveyor system or loads them on a Truck,,Because of all these Cuts the goverment is making in the Postal service,,this is only going to get WORSE |
| seanws30 | 01-14-2012 03:24 PM | i lost a couple too. then i had 40 last week that were scanned as delivered at pick up so i had 40 emails per day asking me what was up. 2 people say they never got their items. |
| thesuspended1 | 01-14-2012 04:29 PM | I had this problem. 3 told me they didn't get their stuffs and Delivery Confirmations were not updated. I did call USPS with the DC#s but was told to go to the post office instead.
I did go to the one I dropped off the packages to.
There, I was able to find out what happened to the packages. Note was left to in the mail boxes for the receipients to pick up their stuffs.
When they said they did not receive any pick up notices, USPS said they still have to go and pick it up with their photo ID.
So I suggest you still have to go to the post office you dropped off at and check with the Postmaster/mistress. |
| Axcend | 01-14-2012 04:39 PM | Raise prices, add insurance. You will never experience another package lost after that. Just add in Insured to your item description and you're all set |

It may take a few days before they are rerouted to the right destinations. Dont panic. It just seems impossible that all of them would vanish into thin air. Just send a note to all of the buyers stating the situation, and there may be a delay. If the items show up too late, you may have to refund a percentage of the cost of the goods as a good will measure, and to hopefully deflect any bad feedbacks. Good luck. |
| mercurial333 | 01-14-2012 05:12 PM | Did they give you a reason OP?
Also, how does one provide receipt for the labels? |

Dont have time to lug boxes and packages to the store so I sit them on my porch and they pick them up around the same time every day. You can schedule pickups in advance. |

Customers who are too stupid to understand see it as you are overcharging them for shipping because of the additional cost. |

I say it happens approx every 200 packages 1 gets lost. That is the average on my end. I flew to Oklahoma to help someone set-up stealth accounts and they had an entire shipment lost. Original location scan and never to be seen again. |
I wonder if the post office spies are on this forum? :spy: |
@Sandy_D - you can book the mailman to come and pick up packages? Wow that is nice. |

lol i know i'm just saying if they knew people mailed packages with stealth addresses so they can make them MIA ....... anyways good luck to you shoot I hope this is just a mistake and they figure it out for you for the better.... |

They dont care if they do their job correctly because they know the union will always back up an employee who either screws up or cannot do the job.
The driver who picks up my packages takes forever to get the packages off the porch, like a snail it takes them 15-20 minutes to pick up 100 or so boxes and scan them on the edge of the truck. |

But this is not with every worker. That is why I always try to get to know and build some type of a relationship with the people i work with. My mailman for example.... one of the coolest, down to earth people i have ever met. Hates his job but always has a smile on his face and jokes like no other. As he finishes delivering the mail he always knocks on my door and picks up my packages for free and takes them to the post office for me. |
| jamcocktail21 | 01-16-2012 05:38 PM | Don't use media mail i had a few packages lost...since i use Priority Mail everything works out ok |

One of the too many 1-star reviews of a postal office, check it out: Quote:
I didnt think this was possible....They are worse!
AFTER WAITING FOR 30 MINUTES IN A LINE FOR 1 LAZY CLERK WITH ONLY ONE WINDOW OPEN AND 5 CLERKS CHATTING IN THE BACK, AFTER ASKING FOR A SINGLE STAMPED ENVELOPE...SHE SAID SHE DIDNT KNOW WHERE THEY WERE AND WENT LOOKING FOR 5 MINUTES...SHE RETURNED WITH A STAMP AND TOLD ME SHE COULDNT FIND AN ENVELOPE...SHE THEN DROPPED THE STAMP ON THE FLOOR AND WAS SO OBESE, SHE COULD NOT BEND OVER TO PICK IT UP...AFTER FAILLING ATTEMPTS TO RETRIEVE THE STAMP FROM THE FLOOR AT HER FEET, SHE LOOKED AT ME AND SAID "I AM OUT OF STAMPS, GET EM FROM THE MACHINE!!!!"WHY IS THIS PLACE ALLOWED TO STAY OPEN???? yelp should give us a rating BELOW one star... This place should be given the worst possible marks.

| Artann | 02-07-2012 06:22 PM | ~one lost package every week! Post Office will send you papers that package was lost if you really push them. |
| KingRay | 02-07-2012 07:10 PM | So what happened to the packages? did you get any response about them from the USPS.?
IF you took them to the counter and they stuck them in their bins(usually behind them) then either they have many more with the same issue and know about the problem or you weighed them light and they are sitting awaiting you to get them. Then they can hound you when you pick them up.
They dont just let pkgs sit around in the Post office for very long. They are not allowed to keep ANY What they call "stale" pkgs. that is one of the biggest rules they enforce. If they are sitting then they are sitting awaiting either search in the postal inspection area (not likely with that many)or you to pick them up due to insufficient or stale(out of date) postage.
They use the word stale a lot at the PO. Just a name for out of date postage or pkg not moving(due to out of place or non legible label, etc). |
| Thankful | 02-07-2012 07:36 PM | Thieves! I hope there tracked bro, thats a crazy amount to go missing and not only that it could certainly ruin your eBay account if you get negatives, hope everything works our for you let us know! |

I have had this happen before with weigh and out dated package. They always shipped it back to the shipped from address though. Once i had a huge bag of them delivered back because postage was labeled as the day before. Yesterday, I got one because of the weigh problem. I labeled it as 6 ounces and they scale showed 6.24 ounces and they want me to pay for 7 ounces lol |
| Omgoozle | 02-09-2012 12:27 PM | There is a tracer form you can fill out. It is a 3-layered sheet of paper which asks you to write down what the parcel looks like, how it was packaged, the approximate size, where it was going, the return address, etc.
The post office then sends this tracer form through the system in the same way the package would have gone to its destination. At every stop the Post Office employees are supposed to read the description and then check the description of the item against their packages that have been damaged, ,are not readable, have been sitting in a corner somewhere, etc. The form makes it way through the system to the intended recipient and if they dont get their package they can see that you tried.
I've done this 3 times for lost packages. It worked once. |
