| First Edition | 02-01-2012 10:02 AM | It's not ANY payment via paypal. |
| doughboykilla | 02-01-2012 10:31 AM | heres what the email says guess they decied to do the holds on everything besides just ebays :(
Hello DoughBoyKilla,
We're writing to let you know about a change to your PayPal account.
Starting 1/31/2012, money from payments you receive will be placed in a pending balance for up to 21 days. By doing this, we're making sure that there's enough money in your account to cover potential refunds or claims.
Even though you can't access the money right away, please ship orders quickly and communicate with your customers. After 21 days, you can withdraw money from each payment as long as the customer hasn't filed a dispute, chargeback, claim, return, or reversal.
The money may be available sooner if:
We can confirm that the item was delivered and 3 days elapse. This gives the buyer enough time to review the order and file a dispute if necessary.
Your buyer leaves positive feedback. (Applies only to eBay items)
This change isn't necessarily permanent. We'll review your account every 35 days and re-evaluate if we should continue to hold your payments. If we decide to stop holding payments, we'll email you to let you know.
Why are my payments being held?
We reviewed your account and determined that there's a relatively higher than average risk of future transaction issues (such as claims, or chargebacks, or payment reversals). We understand that it may be inconvenient to have your payments temporarily held but please know that we didn't make this decision lightly.
Before deciding to hold payments, we consider many factors. These factors include account and transaction activity, the rate of customer disputes, the type of business a seller runs, average delivery timeframes, customer satisfaction, performance and history.
Questions? Let us know
We understand you’d like to have immediate access to the money you receive and we’re here to answer your questions about this change to your account.
For more information and tips on what you can do to avoid having your future payments held, please see our Frequently Asked Questions. To speak to a Customer Service representative, log in to your PayPal account and click “Contact Us” at the bottom of any page.
Thanks,
PayPal |

Based on this, I am thinking your ratio of credit card payments by customers was HIGH and prob triggered the hold. PP is trying to cover its own a$$. |
| doughboykilla | 02-01-2012 10:52 AM | yeah it was werid it was a new account ssn verfied at that and it was the first payment made. it was from some one whos bought from me many times in the past w/o any problems. Im thinking cause it was a new Pp account. I got some old aged ones i made almost 2 years ago im going try it and see what happens. |
| newjerseymax | 02-01-2012 11:31 AM | what?? everyday something else.... |
| BiN4RY | 02-01-2012 03:18 PM | At least you should be grateful that they didn't limit your paypal for "relatively higher than average risk of future transaction issues" like what they did before. |
| jbluntz | 02-01-2012 03:47 PM | I just received a $2000 payment on a new ebay/paypal account with no hold's and an $1800 on an off ebay paypal with no holds, this was yesterday and $1,000 of it is already on it's way to my bank. |
| doughboykilla | 02-01-2012 04:04 PM | yeah i think it was just that paypal cause i got another payment and it didnt have a hold then i went to do a w/d and limited instanly. Then i used a old pp of mine and got a payment not problem. |
| jbluntz | 02-01-2012 04:07 PM | Yeah having a nice big supply of aged paypals can be pretty nice..
Another reason I never bother calling when I get suspended on new accounts since the paypals still good I just save it for later use.. |
| doughboykilla | 02-01-2012 04:24 PM | yeah i need to start makeing some more and letting them age while i use the old ones up. A paypal usely last me about 6mos before they limit me the last one last about 3mos seem like and they got it and the reason why they got it cause a dude paid me and he got limited and they put the payment under review then decied to check my account out and didnt like seeing i was making money and they didnt know what it was for so they limited it. cause it was 10mins after the buyers payment got held that i got the notice of limited account. All the dipsutes i ever had was from when pp open them for people getting limited. |
| jbluntz | 02-01-2012 04:29 PM | My main paypal is over a year old and still going strong, had payments from 100's of ebay accounts go through that 1 paypal lol.. |

I have two paypal accounts both verified that are aged were used with suspended accounts are you suggesting that I leave them and use them again. |
| jbluntz | 02-01-2012 04:37 PM | You can use them for off ebay transactions. |

Same here unknown, it's a nice game when done right |

It ca be used for off ebay transactions.
The irony for me is that two of my paypals like that flourish as I use them off ebay. ( Silly paypal ;)) |
| FandangoKango | 02-01-2012 08:30 PM | I agree with greenbean for once lol. |
| jbluntz | 02-01-2012 09:14 PM | Yes we got that clarified about 3 times now..
now wait, money, men and more money? don't tell me fandango's a girl? |
LOL everybody is coming out the closet.... |
| foreverconfused | 02-01-2012 11:00 PM | Everyone should look into Dwolla for off Ebay stuff. Super cheap. I don't know if I'd sell high dollar stuff there now because I haven't experienced a case / claim yet, but I've been selling off Ebay there for 2 months and it's cheap and user friendly. |
| unkown5454 | 02-01-2012 11:24 PM | Dwolla is good while they are small. If they got popular, I don't think their business model would work and they would certainly tighten up like other merchants. But, it is good to hear some success. |

| Sandy D | 02-02-2012 02:01 AM | I sold something off craiglist and accepted pp as payment and even collected the shipping and they of course held the money.
Since I do not like to meet with people on small items from CL I put in my ad the shipping will be 5.10 etc (for whatever the flat rate charge is because I do not know who might buy something and where they are ) Actually sold something 2 states away a while back on CL.
They did this before to me so I was waiting on it. |

It's not 'any' payment but more along the lines of unexpected holds happen.
Has been mentioned on the forum.
All to do with usuage of the paypal account ;) |
@degsey

| mattytman | 02-02-2012 08:53 AM | I use a zillion paypal's a week and this has never happened to me... |

| biggunn | 02-03-2012 12:32 AM | Is PayPal holding funds on just payments sent as 'goods' or are they also holding payments sent off ebay as 'services' too?? |
| GreenBean | 02-03-2012 01:47 AM | @biggunn
Goods and services have had them on our testers. (poor little accounts :pout).
UK offsider got a hold on a charity donation.
Out of 18 transactions 4 holds. Matters resolved but so so so petty. :fight: |

| Javelin | 02-03-2012 08:47 AM | This isn't something new.
Has been going on for months now...
When I first used my year old buyer's account (got suspended cause of dropshipping)
and made it into a selling account, Fall of last year,
I sold about $2,800 worth of items in 3-4 days, and every single one of those
transactions (except for a couple) were held, until Paypal could determine that
the items were delivered. Thus, I try to put the tracking number on the items
in Paypal within 24 hours, so I could get the money faster.
But still, it usually took 12 days or so,
until I could see any of that "pending" balance hit my bank account.
And items that I shipped out to the UK, would take the whole 21 days
for the pending balance to clear.....
Lol. All that money is used up now.
Seems like this is an issue if you make a certain amount too fast,
or yes, to new eBay seller accounts. |
| biggunn | 02-03-2012 01:03 PM | How can they hold payments for services? You just have to wait the full 21-days? What about when receiving payments through invoices you send? Any testing there? |
| wonderwoman901 | 02-13-2012 11:10 AM | Damn they just hit me with this message today. I have been selling a whole lot lately. The funny thing is its only coupons and Ive only been making between 2.00 to 6.00 bucks. My balance is just under 200 dollars they are holding 65 of it should i try to withdraw the rest that they are not holding or will they limit the account? I hope not because I really need the money to purchase some stuff this week. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:02 PM. | |
