Told you guys to check out your local thrift stores!
 

I just scored a Seth Thomas clock for 29.99 at a local dive thrift store.

Last one like it sold for 650.00 according to terapeak.

Also picked up tons of smalls for new accounts.

If you have a local thrift store and drive by it you need to stop.

Also picked up a Callaway Big Bertha gold club for 3.00.

Very nice! There are thrift stores every few miles in some cities.

They are everywhere around me in any direction I go.

I go to many antique auctions and always leave in time to hit the thrift stores on the way.

You don't need to tell me. :D

I just bought my new home with what I find at Thrift Stores and Garage Sales.

I am always willing to help Subscribed Members who are interested in getting started in this niche.

Dang you must be making a killing because I find something every single time I go and that is a lot and no way do I find enough stuff to buy a new home.

Unless you are meaning you are making your payments with what you find and that would be rather easy.

I posted about this a while back and someone said you could not make any money doing this so I posted this thread showing people here they can make some great money doing this.

I have done it for a long time myself but never see anyone post about it.


Something for members to think about.

One of the local thrift stores here had several boxes of wiring for next to nothing. Mixed sizes etc. Inside--- copper wire. Nice scrap yard item when you go. More then 50 pounds of wiring.

are local therft stores are a joke now prices there higher then new. We got a savers store here it staterd out all good now there prices is higher then new. They have these 10 pc mico screwdrive sets there priced $5.99 made by tuff built and u can go across the street and get the same set at dollar tree for $1 :lol: they got dumb*ss's marking prices on that junk. Even though my friends wife was trying on some boots there and felt something in it and reached in and pull a stack of 100's out totaling in $1000 which they kept :D

I have been doing it for almost 8 years now. Really helps if you have a electronics background as I really like selling used and vintage electronics.

Amazing knowing many post on having problems finding good cheap items to build feedback.

My stores are full of everything, many have piles of stuff they cannot even get to in a day.

One Salvation Army brings carts out all day long of items.

Electronics is a great seller. Used good electronics always fetch good money.

I did see a group of Game Cubes today for 5.99 each with controllers and should have bought them all. Marked as is turned me off of them. Might grab them next trip and hope they work.

Guess we are the only ones who do this.

Great ways to get bargains.

In OZ, it does tend (at times) to be a neighborhood thing as to the bargains obtainable.
More dealers are trying to 'fleece' the better goodies but if you are quick you can get rewards. :juggle:

I do this as well before last year before all the storage wars "shows" I bought 2 units 1

had a 1975 Harley motorcycle and a 1968 TR250 and tons of vintage items newest items

in there was from 1980 I sold the bike on CL for $800 no title didn't run and the 1968

Triumph TR250 $5K on ebay and the vintage items were like old toy racing cars from the

1960's made about $12k and bought the unit for $55 the 2nd unit I bought had a big

wooden crate won it for $80 turned out to be a truck tire changer brand new sold on

ebay for $4500 had to ship it for free and rent a forklift after all the tv shows all the

newbies run up the prices I still go but never will hit the jackpot like that again :(

I still go to garage sales thift stores and auctions but seems like a lot of people already

research it because it's gone when I get there

I bought 5 x-box 360's once in 'as-is' condition... None of them worked... If it's 'as-is' and easily testable, probably doesn't work..

Everything in this thrift store is marked as-is other then clothing.

I went this morning and picked up some items including taking the chance on one of the consoles. Brought it home, put in a game and it worked like a charm.

This store marks everything as is because they do not want any returns on anything. Clothing is the only items that do not have the as-is sticker.

All the furniture, electronics, nick knacks, etc are marked as is. I also noticed a huge sign above the door going out today "Everything sold as-is, no returns accepted".

I am actually headed back out to buy the other consoles. I can hit a couple of the smaller stores on the way back and see if anything new got put out.

Dang this is so much fun.


Now please do not laugh at me. A while back I bought a box of high grade construction type bathroom caulking for 2.00. Eighteen tubes were in the box.

I put them on ebay for 0.99 for 7 days. They ended at 42.50 and they paid the shipping. 40.50 profit minus the fees on a box of caulking! :shocked:

Just to give our members an idea on picking of things you normally would never even look at.

I dont even bother going to goodwill or big chain places like that because they send all their crap to a larger facility to be marked and looked at.

Goodwill has many many experts in their big sorting facilities that look at every item in their field. Example. A shoe and clothing expert area in the facility may have 10 emplloyees that their only job is to look at each tag and sort into price categories. the highest categories go on the good will website for auction.

The rest goes out to be distributed to stores.

They actually have very knowledgeable people grabbing all the expensive goods that they can find in each category.

Of course some of it slips through and makes it to the stores but not near as much as gets caught.

The smaller local ones sell what comes in to their store so those you have a much better chance of a great find that you can cash in on.

The local thrift stores around me also don't really have anything special either. I've checked out a couple of them and the owners seem to know what they are doing with their items.

Garage sales are a different story. You can get really lucky sometimes.

Spoke to UK associate. He picked up x3 pieces of matching Hornsea crockery for £3. Right time to list & they will go for over £150 each. Nice :D

Glad I went back to grab the games, I found a blackberry with charger in the show case for 19.99.

I am sorry to disagree with King Ray on this. I find tons of items at my local goodwills and salvation army stores.

Fact is, I have large goodwills in every direction from my home and all of them have some great stuff 90% of the time.

The rare clock I found at one of these places.

If people were hired to check items no way would a nice blackberry get through and marked for 19.99.

I hit the yard sales as well. I have a ton of those around me year around.

I also have two of the largest flea markets in the US within an hour drive of me so I have to hit them all the time as well.

You wont find something like this everyday but I can spend 15.00 on gas and hit a huge goodwill and a huge salvation army along with 5-6 local thrift stores and do it in a couple hours and always come home with several nice profit items.

Going back tonight and getting the blackberry was proof enough for me that you not only have to be lucky but you have to have the knowledge of many varieties of items.

If you guys do not mind I am going to list some of my finds as I go on so the subscribers here can benefit and when you hit the thrift stores, yard sales etc you can start looking for these types of items.

1970's Kiss tour t-shirt 1.99 sold for 67.51
Wayne Gretzky jersey 1.99 sold for 55.00

TGMT above has a vast knowledge of electronics which I do not have, but I can sort my way through it so always look at everything looking for items that are usable, antique, collectible etc.

* And I always have my phone with me to terapeak everything before I buy it.
