You have to know what to look for which is the hard part. I was walking around with my iphone out all day looking like a jackass for those hidden gems but just didn't know what to look for. I did end up finding something really sweet though, a Linksys WRT300N wireless router looked nearly brand new or barely used. Price was $20 got it for $15, which is a sweet deal even without the $5 discount.
I also came upon a vintage 1960s GI Joe asking price was $35, I looked on ebay and some were selling for upwards $300. Wish I knew more about vintage GI Joes and see if it would have been worth to buy...
And damn these swap meets man, the vendors here are blatantly selling a truckload of ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ****. I thought these swap meets were on watch but damn. ⊗⊗⊗⊗ DVDs, cologne, games, clothes, jerseys, hats, shoes, you name it. Makes me think about setting up shop for a day and see how things go, I can get all the stuff they have selling there easily... |
Great find. Some GI Joes bring some big bucks.
Also, the original boxes mean a lot to collectors when it comes with items so if it has the original boxes add some value to your finds.

Amazing day at the thrift stores and yard sales.
Box of WWII uniforms, boots, fighter googles and helmet, coat, bag etc at a yard sale.
American Flyer trains and tracks.
Box of Barbies 1960's with some newer ones that are not worth much at all.
Box of 1986 Unopened Fleer Basketball cards. I believe this is the one that had the Jordon Rookie in it. Have not checked yet but for 5.00 bucks.
No 46 Hp printer ink. I got a box full of them for a buck of piece.
Do not laugh, box of fax paper rolls. New never used never opened.
Cannot believe I am buying rolls of fax paper to re sell but hey.
2 Bicycle Car Racks for 5.00 each.
Weather radio.
Old shoe shining box and kit inside.
Appears to be 1970s home CB Radio.
Dan Marino Dolphins jersey.
Fender Strato Electric guitar. Paid 30.00 for it and dont know anything about them but took the chance on this one.
4 Ralph Lauren Polo shirts brand new with tags, 3.00 a piece.
A good day and we have 3 community yard sales tomorrow.

I went to the swap meet today, I found a box with 3 original copies of Hitler's book, Mein Kampf from the 1930s. I dont know the value but they seemed worth something. Only paid $5 for all 3.
Bought 2 Wii's for $50 each, everything included
Bought a box with really old Cracker Jack box toys. 47 small toys, paid $5 for entire box.
5 desktop towers and 2 small nettops laptops for the hard drives, $35 each, hard drives alone will sell for 40-50.

I bought 3 copies of a DVD called "Testament" at a flea market a couple of months ago, for $5 each. All brand new. Those puppies sell for over $100 each..
This was an "art house" movie about the aftermath of a nuclear war that came out in 1983 and was finally released on DVD in 2004. It is a relatively obscure movie with a very limited audience.
For me, those are the ones that I do well with. Harry Potter DVD's will always sell for $5 because there are millions of them - they will never be rare. But these little titles that nobody ever heard of can be worth a small fortune.

Picked up a pretty nice Samaria sword for $15 today. A pretty nice one for so cheap. $80 at the mall... I'm not planning to flip this item at all, just a fun toy.

I hit 2-3 per day and then 2-3 the next day I can.
I have 8-10 good ones heading either direction from me and a ton of smaller ones I run it and look around real quick if I have time.
Plus I have 2 huge flea markets close to me and several smaller flea markets any direction I go.
Two thrift stores are the ones I usually find the best stuff and they are located in the poorest areas or towns so not many people with money hit them. A plus for me. Yes I carry my pepper spray and taser with me!!!
There is an advantage of living in between two large metro areas. Tons of smaller towns around me with thrift stores and many med size towns all with goodwills, sal army stores, America thrift etc. I can go any direction and run into several of them. Then I head back to my little safe neighborhood all in one piece.

Sandy, I really doubt that box of basketball cards was a 1986-87 Fleer box, those for for $10,000++. But...ya never know, there might be that ONE person that has NO clue about those, but it would have to pass between 3-4 people before it hit wherever you bought it, I just can't see that happening. Did you research it? Verdict?
****Not "hating" just commenting since I have been buying/selling sports cards for 22 years now.

Marking will be IG ( G will be over the I ) | You are so very lucky. Every time I go to Good Will I try to find decent glassware like that. The best I ever did was find an Avon plate :-/ I've almost given up on glassware.
Let's see. I went to the thrift store and found an old RISK Game. It's not worth much and it's missing pieces. I'll have to return it. It's been a horrible month for finding things.

The "Dust Covers" alone are worth in-excess of $50 each.
