Payments Under Review?

I recently sent two PayPal "gifts" to other accounts. Immediately I got emails saying that the transactions are under review.

The PayPals I sent the money to were banned from ebay (dumb, I know! I shouldn't have done it!).

My question is- Should I cancel the transactions immediately?!

BiN4RY 03-06-2012 01:33 PM

Yes, or else Paypal will reverse it eventually anyways.

mississippighost 03-06-2012 01:35 PM

Maybe not....I this happen on 2 accounts last week...both cleared in 24 hours like the email stated

GrannyT 03-06-2012 01:37 PM

Why did you do that? We do expect people to take reasonable precautions - were you trying to get limited for some reason?

CheshireSmile 03-06-2012 01:40 PM

I had done it before without any problem, for whatever reason I didn't think it would be a big deal to do it again.

The "sending" Paypal accounts shows them as Completed. Maybe I should wait it out and just never do it again? I don't know. :noidea:

GrannyT 03-06-2012 01:47 PM

DON'T do it again - they really don't like it

:ranger:

CheshireSmile 03-06-2012 01:49 PM

GrannyT, what do you think:

Should I cancel or wait it out?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ :boink:

Both of your accounts will be scrutinized for payment reviews, better to avoid it

paypal doesnt like the gift option, i dont even know why they have it. they know exactly what is going on when you send gift payments consistently

Sandy D 03-06-2012 10:38 PM

Gift option is a no no and puts a big red flag up.

FandangoKango 03-07-2012 12:44 AM

I have sent lately everything as goods and put something in the notes. Be creative and have had no problems or limitations. I stopped sending as gifts long time ago when I realized it flags up the account. For some reason if your sending more than $50.00 as a gift paypal thinks you should do it in person and not paypal to paypal. I don't even know why they have that option and who it applies too and how much can be sent without problems.

Again, stop throwing false statistics around

rsot 03-07-2012 10:47 AM

Good point BiN.

FandangoKango 03-07-2012 01:11 PM

For more than 1 year when I have sent more than $50.00 in gifts most of the time it raises flags after a few days for me. I don't know about yall, but for me it does. Now if you don't like the fact take it or leave it. Paypal is paypal and I don't know why they have that gift option if it just raises flags.

HurricaneHuntr 03-07-2012 02:58 PM

Make sure the phones are around, paypal probably will be calling to verify :)

You're just terrible at paypaling, that's all :FF:

Sneakee 03-08-2012 01:00 AM

So Ebay doesn't like the "gift" option entirely or only when linked to banned accounts?

BiN4RY 03-08-2012 02:04 AM

There is nothing wrong with gift payments, as long as you don't send huge amounts or excessively frequent

FandangoKango 03-08-2012 08:53 AM

I would say send less than $50.00 usd as a gift. Anything else is a risk for me. Everybody else has a different opinion.

rsot 03-08-2012 10:10 AM

@FanDango, personal experiences are fine.

It's when you say things like (quote):

You seem to saying something in general. I write about my experiences all the time but always keep it in context with what I am doing.

GrannyT 03-08-2012 10:49 AM

Damn silly way to transfer money IMO - upsets Paypal, raises flags = limitations and queries

Kind of negates everything we are trying to do here doesn't it?

rsot 03-08-2012 10:57 AM

Lot of folx like to negate and breakthrough...or die trying GTran.
