Raising selling allowances..New procedure??

Hi all =)

On one of my new stealth accounts, I was attempting to list about 15 items (few months old now) however, the dreaded "selling allowance" notice came up and stated I only had ability to sell 10 items.

I then linked my verified paypal with this account but still the limit of 10 remains...

So, I clicked on "increase my selling allowances" and what came up, shocked & worried me for future stealth accounts...

"confirm address by postal confirmation"

They wanted me to check my name and address and they would send a letter to this address with a confirmation code, this code would then unlock the selling raise request.

Anyone any experience, thoughts or ideas on this one?

Been a lot of reports on this lately

Imakemoney 03-08-2012 05:20 PM

Yep its a new measure.

I tested this on 3 accounts. 2 of the 3 were hit with this.

whiteberry 03-08-2012 05:21 PM

Any suggestions to overcome this? =/

*I should note that I don't actually want to request the higher allowances, I was just hoping to get the 100 allowance with linking verified PP?

Would agree with Whiteberry.

I also commented on other thread the other day that avoid requesting anything from EB specially higher selling allownce. As I `v had a very band experince with it.

Take an advice, why not spread Your sales into different acc, hope you get what I mean ;)

Spread sales accross numerous accounts, or let your account limits increase automatically over time by getting good feedback & DSR's

make more accounts plain and simple!

Okay guys =) Thanks and I am on it...

Cheers, Whiteberry x

Make sure that any address you use you have access to it then it's not an issue.

Why havent I received this to raise my limit! They want my to provide my OLD details so they can raise mine!

NoneOther 03-08-2012 07:49 PM

What do you mean by "OLD" details?

AjAndCo 03-09-2012 10:08 AM

Damn there starting to do it like moneybookers..

GTB 03-09-2012 10:35 AM

i wonder if they made it impossible for ppl to get back on ebay after been suspended

do you think they would suffer at all:noidea:

anyone want to guesstimate what percentage of ebay accounts are stealth or banned ppl trying again

whiteberry 03-09-2012 11:40 AM

I would guess a large number, very large...

Hmmmm =/

Not many GTB - in the great scheme of things, with the vast number of accounts there are I would guess that stealthers make up a very very small percentage - but that can still be a significant number. The majority of people are buyers and so Trust & Safety only have to look at the sellers. The first sign of anything untoward it's good night Vienna - there's always more sellers in the wings

GTB 03-09-2012 12:46 PM

Hmmm its a tricky one

if there was no way to get back on ebay

we would all be selling on ebid or amazon etc

so the more ppl they give the boot, the more bigger the competitors get

true about the buyers

but less sellers, less bargains and less buyers who go to the competitors who have all the banned ebay members who are competing for the scraps BLAH blah

we could go round in circles on this one

if ebay are smart they will never make it impossible

they_screwed_me_too 03-09-2012 01:02 PM

this may sound stupid, and i guess at least someone will say hey man your stupid

but

do ebay actually want people to come back after been suspended ? otherwise as you rightly say they could easily make it nigh on impossible

GTB 03-09-2012 01:11 PM

theres always method to madness

No, they do not want you back. If they did they would not have booted you off in the first place, they would have restricted your 'privileges', said you were a bad boy and allowed you to carry on 'under guidance'

I have said in other posts e/b do not want private/small and medium sized business sellers anymore. We do not form part of their 'grand plan' for e/b to be the worlds outlet shopping mall for major brands and retailers.

As Bob Dylan so wisely put.......The Times They Are A Changin'

method madness is correct i believe

GrannyT 03-09-2012 01:29 PM

Of course they don't want you back.

Think of it this way

A widget sells for £10. You've found someone in China who will sell you a lookee likey widget for £1.00. As we all know Widgets are the must have thing right now. So you list your lookee likey widget for £4.99 plus £1.90 P&P - absolute bargain - and a right little earner for you.

Your customer, Mr. Punter, buys your lookee likey widget thinking he's getting a real bargain. The trouble is Mr. Punter knows a real widget when he sees it and he knows your one is not the real thing.

Still, it was only £4.99 plus P&P so no great loss. He just wont buy any more. You don't know this of course because he hasn't told you.

That night when he's down the pub with his mates he says "You'll never believe what happened to me, I bought this brand new widget off of Ebay and its a snide - total waste of money"

"You're kidding" says his mate "I was going to go on Ebay because I want a widget"

"Take my advise" says Mr. Punter "stay away from Ebay - it's a right rip off!!"

And Ebay have immediately lost 20 potential buyers and got themselves a name as purveyors of lookee likey widgets.

And then Widgets-R-Us Inc. who are the owners of the genuine widget trademark start court proceedings against Ebay for allowing lookee likey widgets to be sold.

Now, if you were Ebay would you really want someone on your site with a record of selling snide widgets?

It aint rocket science is it?
