I'm curious what everyone's experience with this was. I have a stealth account and I'm thinking of purchasing something off a site that accepts paypal.

Personally I wouldn't do that - that qualifies as an unnecessary risk IMO

The address you put on a third party site is sent to their database with the payment transaction number. So no paypal cannot see the shipping address. I purchased lots of stuff without effecting my account but then again I like to take risks and learn.

I actually bought some Ink from Ebay on a stealth account and just had them send it to my "Real" address. Nothing has happened so far. Pretty darn good "replacement ink" too.

Long time NutBag! How are you? :D

Not a good idea to do this. I gather you have no access to the address?

Has been known for the shipper to disregard the address request.

Has happened to us on several different accounts. Gave the shipper specific istructions to deliver to address A & got the item at address B.

Not worth the chance.

This!. In theory, it should be fine. PP is billing address. And shipping should just be with retailer. BUT as the great Bean points out, you can never be 100% sure what is passed on by the retailer. I have done this before and its normally ok. But the biggest issue is how EASY paypal is to "click n claim". So as more and more stores get burned they start forcing the PP address to get protection

BTW Contrary to popular belief, spending the funds is not any safer than a withdraw.

EDIT: I have a website that uses PP. And you can have a different shipping address then billing [PayPal]. However, if I get a large value order and feel off about address I will sometimes contact customer and ask if I can ship to PP. Now I ask because I understand the system. Another retailer may just ship to PP address anyway to be safe

Hey Green. I plan on purchasing stuff thru a marketplace, and I assume they'll simply see whatever address I have on file at the site. I hadn't considered that they might send to my bogus address on paypal.
