New account under my name
 

Hi,

Same story as with most of the people here: my PayPal/eBay account got limited.

I live in UK but I have a real address, bank account, credit card etc in another country. I've got a machine there running 24/7 which I can log on to remotely and also acting as a VPN server for me. Basically I've got everyting needed to start a new account except the name.

The "Ebay Stealth" book says to open a new PP/eBay account under a new name. I could use details of a relative living at that address but I don't like to involve other people and depend on them.

I'd like to ask what are the chances of linking my old and new accounts based on the facts that the owner's name and DOB are the same? All other things are completely separate.

I've got another UK eBay/PayPal account created after my original account got suspended and after I read the "Ebay Stealth". It's under my wife's name and I deliberately linked it to my old account by using the same PC with the same IP and of course the same address and landline phone number. I've been using it for few months now, for buying only and so far so good. I linked it to convince them that I'm using this account and not the one created abroad. Not sure if it means anything :)

Why go through all that effort, then use your name again?

The point of a stealth account is exactly that; stealth. What is your reasoning for not wanting to use a different name?

No one can tell you the chances.. what we can tell you is by having the same name and DOB increases them - I'd say by a fair amount.

I wouldnt use your relatives name - in fact, by using their address you've already gotten them more involved than they should be.

New name.

Has been done before and in most cases has failed.

You need to change it up some just in case.

No sense in doing all the work when there is no need.

uvi79.. what problems do you foresee with a "different" name? I see none. It's really not an issue.

Thanks for all the answers guys and sorry for not replying earlier. I was busy with some other stuff and had to leave my eBay/PP problems for a while.

Anyway, I have dual nationality and have an address, bank account, credit card etc in two countries. Therefore I thought it would be just easier and faster to use my legit details from the other country. This would save me some hassle if eBay asked for any documents as I have them.

With that said, I forgot to mention that the new account would not be under my name, but it would not be 100% the same. The reason is that my both first and last name have some national characters which are not present in English language. So technically the name would be very similar, but not identical.

I also forgot to mention that I do not plan on running a business on my new account but rather sell something from time to time. The reason for my original account being locked was that I sold quite few 'virtual goods' (game keys) and they did not liked it. I'm not going to try that again and I can't be using my friends' account all the time to sell some stuff I've got at home.

Well for me it seems like quite a big thing and to be honest I have no idea yet how to proceed. There were some general ideas in the book, but nothing really specific. I need to think about it and do some research I guess.

This could go down at any time so be careful with it.
