Please excuse the spacing. It's funny, I'm dealing with a new supplier and told them specifically to please ship with EMS as I have bad luck with DHL and they say "It's ok we have experience and methods to make risk of customs minimum" yeah my ass...

My initial reaction is this shipment is a goner and there is no way in hell I'm contacting DHL right? Unless you guys know better I know many of you use DHL would it be alright to call in and see what's up or...

Gamefreak 04-05-2012 01:52 AM

DHL is a PAIN right now. They seem to be inspecting everything. I got like 10 packages this month all 10 stopped and inspected all have branded items but some reason they all got released the following day.

Perhaps they want your SSN or EIN. They are very nice ppl ( DHL staff ) call them and find out.

Callidus 04-05-2012 03:39 AM

Im in the UK, my order from last week had to be shipped from my usual supplier via UPS as there were problems with DHL. Just had 500 pcs shipped yesterday with DHL as they have stopped their 'spot checks' and im praying its all ok!

Youve made me worry now lol

teedon 04-05-2012 06:55 AM

"Please contact DHL'' meaning your packages have been seized and DHL will tell you to contact US custom directly.Nobody can handle this issue if the goods got seized .

CA is always dangerious region by shipping DHL,we have mentioned a lot in this forum.

West and middle is ok shipping by DHL recently.

The final step is asking your supplier to discuss how to avoid this in next shippment.

How is dhl to new york?

UnderBites08 04-05-2012 07:26 AM

Also if your seller is good they normally will reship.

cortex 04-05-2012 07:34 AM

Same with UK...DHL is not good for sending certain goods.
I ask for chinapost or EMS

teedon 04-05-2012 09:56 AM

new york is ok recenty via DHL but not sure in the upcoming a few weeks.

hackteck 04-05-2012 02:00 PM

jamblix what happened when you called dhl

jamblix 04-05-2012 02:59 PM

I didn't call, I don't really want to what's the point if they're just gonna tell me my shipment has been seized.

I'm going to talk to my supplier first and ask how they labeled and priced the shipment before I call in.

(edit: by the way, has ANYONE called after they got the contact DHL message? And what do you think is the worst case scenario if I do call in?)

Gamefreak 04-05-2012 04:15 PM

Just call in. whats the worst that can happen? just dont give them any personal info but of course they already have that from the shipment itself

cardfelon 04-05-2012 04:26 PM

I have found that packages going through LA and New York have the higher seizure rate for me at least. 95% of my stuff goes through Cincinnati with minimal issues.

Thankful 04-05-2012 04:31 PM

I don't even use DHL nomore overpriced for the huge delays that occur these days.

Really? I love DHL. I get stock in 3-4 days. Only crap side is sometimes having to pay the VAT.
Although its useful in a way because you get a VAT statement and Invoice which paypal would drool over

FandangoKango 04-05-2012 07:36 PM

Who uses dhl in the usa still? I thought they sold out?

jeffweico 04-05-2012 07:40 PM

Most likely means seized, but it wouldn't hurt to call, as it COULD be someting else.

Like cortex, I never have issues with DHL.

What is your supplier going to do for you?

markflood 04-05-2012 09:29 PM

why would they want to seized? everyone know everything is made in china. so what gives

jamblix 04-05-2012 09:40 PM

Haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, gonna contact him tonight and call in tomorrow. I'll keep you guys updated.

GreenBean 04-05-2012 09:51 PM

Jamblix,

worst scenario(s)

Fully seized consignment

Pay more duty request.

Nice scenario ( and this can happen)

Package damaged in transit. Isurance action needed.

You pick what suits you best :juggle:

newjerseymax 04-05-2012 11:20 PM

I had this with 3 packages recently.... All at once...

I did call.... First they will want your name and phone number before anything... They told me it was a customs issue... Asked me if I wanted to talk to customs.... I declined. She opened some kind of case... Next 4 days someone called 2x a day. I answered each time, however it was always as if it was first time calling.

My supplier re-shipped products...

2 days ago one of the boxes was left on my door step. It was opened and inspected by customs.

Now I wish I would have opened a case on all 3. The one I did open case is the one that showed up.

accutinting 04-05-2012 11:49 PM

Got same notice recently and DHL gave me the customs office number and this is the middle USA port btw. so I call late at night to see where that number and extension lead to and it was a typical customs agent and after research found that name to be under some seizures under google search with others. Got a LL and just let it be, im shocked this small order even got stopped let alone the type of item but I never like dealing with customs even if your not doing anything wrong, I feel as if they want to much info so I just avoid all together. now thats just me and how I feel about it. There are so many things they can nail you with, not just your typical foreign vero items but once again it could be just something got damaged or along those lines
