Default Shipping to a different address

A buyer wants me to ship to a different address, so I tell him to change his address on ebay. I also plan on using shipcover insurance and signature confirmation. Am I covered or could I still be potentially ripped off?

Well. When i sold i didnt like to do this very much, unless it was a very low priced item. But now after having to go stealth, i sort of understand. If i didnt have my buyer account, i might have to do this with my stealth. So i see where people are coming from. I might email them privately or call them. See if u can work it out.

Others here might so no, never...but depends on the buyers ratings, feedback, etc...just my opinion.

I only ship to address listed on the ebay info.

They can go in and change it and then change it back.

You have to tell the buyers this as most are not smart enough to know they can do this.

I have been burnt in the past by shipping to a non ebay listed address.

So even if he changes his address on ebay and I ship to that address with signature confirmation and shipcover he can still claim non delivery and get away with it? Someone please explain if possible.

What's to explain?

You run a BIG risk of being scammed should you decide to ship to an unconfirmed address.

At no point of your posts have you suggested the buyer is going to make everything kosher.

Simply telling a buyer to change address does little to improve YOUR protection.

Story would not be that different if buyer went ahead & did full changes with ebay/paypal.

Simply put buyers lie & ebay/paypal do not side with the seller eve if proof of delivery is suppied.

If you suspect it might be trouble go with that feeling.

He already paid for the item, that address CANNOT be changed after the item has been paid for. If he wants to change the address you would need to refund him and have him repay with the other adress.

Make sure you are covered but by him sending you the address you are NOT covered by ebay or paypal.

I realize I won't be covered by paypal/ebay. Thats never been a consideration. This is why I stated that i will be using shipcover. I ship to unconfirmed addresses overseas all the time so I am not bothered by this fact, as long as I'm insured. Shipcover pays out, if what I've read from others are to be believed. My concern is whether I'll still be refunded in my particular situation. The item is not going overseas, but it will still be delivered to an "unconfirmed" address. Perhaps I should also have the buyer achange his pp address as well.

He paid after the address was changed.

P.S. I want to thank everyone for all the responses.
