| | | newjerseymax | 06-04-2012 07:01 PM | Question about iphone thethering IP Hi guys,
I use iphone tethering (hotspot) quite often for stealth. Since the 1st of June the IP addresses have been very limited in variation. At best maybe 10 different IP. Otherwise I am getting constant duplicates... Usually only the last 2 numbers change in the rage between 20-30...
This is first time ever I had such issue with my iphone (At&t)... I expected the range to change after couple of days, however now I am on verge of having to get a new device just to manage.
Anyone had this issue before?
Any suggestions? |
| Sandy D | 06-04-2012 08:46 PM | Yes I had the same issue for a long time until I moved and now get to use the MAC address changing.
Life is easier.
If I had not moved I would have went with dial up even though it would be slower. |
| newjerseymax | 06-04-2012 10:55 PM | You had the same issue with iphone? Coming from towers I would imagine constant changing of IP. Every other person has iphone with at&t... So I am sharing IP with all these people? Either I should worry that everyone is sharing IP's anyway or worry that I am one of few actually paying for hotspot tethering.
I was wondering if I drive to different tower would it then change? I simply do not know enough about the technology. |

Any suggestions? | That's the main reason I still have my blackberry on top of iphone through verizon since you get a whole new range ip each time with blackberry but with iphone it's only the last few digits that change, that's with verizon. |
| cmbhuy | 06-04-2012 11:40 PM | T-Mobiles $30 walmart plan with 5gig of 4g Data works very well with a android phone that either comes stock with tether or can be rooted. New IP range each time. |
| Sandy D | 06-05-2012 01:09 AM | Max I am in the same boat, not much of a techie either. |

| cmbhuy | 06-05-2012 02:18 AM | Walmart has a special plan for $30 you only get 100 voice minutes but you can unlimited text and 5gb of data |

Also, for those of you recommending T-Mob 4G, be careful. When on 4G, their IPs hardly change. This has been brought up before.
My best experience with super wide ranges is Sprint. I will soon be testing the new Verizon prepaid 4G LTE MiFi box and since it switches back and forth between LTE and 3G, that is a good sign the IP range should be pretty broad. |

Any suggestions? | This is happening to me as well, my iphone ip address is often duplicates and off by just one digit. I hope it goes back to how it was before. |

| erikgriba | 06-05-2012 11:13 AM | I'm having the same issue now, what is the best alternative ?? |

| roberteng | 06-05-2012 11:52 AM | Didnt know that, only read the book saying its good for iphone as it is much more easy then setting the MAC add. |

| newjerseymax | 06-06-2012 10:29 AM | It was great up til first of the month. I have read before that 4g has limited IP range. Maybe some kind of switch happened. My phone always showed 4g before, however never quite had that 4g speed. hmmmm...
Is that walmart plan a pre-paid plan? I dont want to go into anymore contracts... arghhhh |

| newjerseymax | 06-08-2012 07:50 PM | Ok this is driving me crazy.... Now its literally switching between 5 IP....
Strange thing is when I check ipburger on the phone bowser its a totally new different fresh IP...
Been trying to wrap my head around it for last few hours. I have labels to print and clock is ticking.... |
Scared the crap out of me must be your area I just checked my ipmanger app log and they been changing and just toggled about 30 times in a row not one repeat.
You can always try to toggle the 3G to off on the iPhone gives you new ip on Edge might be slower but hey it's a new ip! |
