Email addresses

Ok I just created some new accounts.

Getting peed off with Gmail these days, as they ask you for a phone number etc when signing up. So decided to try Yahoo, but I can't fins the option to block images.

I found this in their help pages

STEP 1
Open SpamGuard's settings
From the main Mail page, click "Mail Options" and then navigate to the Spam Protection section. Next, find the SpamGuard image blocking options.

But there doesn't seem to be any Spamguard Protection section.

Anyone use Yahoo?

GTB 06-19-2012 11:48 AM

i think they already do this tbh sax

someone please correct me if i am wrong

sax4 06-19-2012 11:54 AM

Nope, I opened an email without turning off, and there was a dirt great Ebay graphic

GTB 06-19-2012 12:01 PM

Hmmmm pictures are disabled in my yahoooo

and i cant remember disabling them lad :noidea:

sax4 06-19-2012 12:22 PM

Well if I disabled them, I would know where to look :boink:

SUVE 06-19-2012 12:32 PM

A security feature in Yahoo Mail prevents images from loading on certain messages. You can see if images are disabled by default:

1. Sign into Yahoo Mail.
2. Click the Options link in the upper-right corner.
3. Click Mail Options.
4. Click Spam on the left side.
5. Check Initially block all Images.
6. Click Save Changes when you’re ready.

ps: disregard incorrect image highlight - assume it means to refer to the 'Initially block all Images'.

Ok I have a different Yahoo that I only signed up to a few days ago, totally different layout. Managed to figure it out eventually. Cheers!

GTB 06-19-2012 12:54 PM

wat i was saying is that i thought they were automatically disabled

like gmail

SUVE 06-19-2012 01:05 PM

Yes, that was a slightly earlier version, here is the current yahoo mail options screen & if you look carefully, it has the image enable/disable option under the spam protection header:

really?, are you sure you turned them off?

NoneOther 07-05-2012 09:33 AM

Are you using the web interface or downloading the emails using a client.

If you are using a client then you may need to change the setting in its preferences as they will sometimes override the server settings

GTB 07-05-2012 10:12 AM

Artann 07-05-2012 12:27 PM

Web interface, just like shown in SUVE's image and I change it to 'never by default' go back, open email and all images are shown! weird! any other suggestions?

NoneOther 07-05-2012 12:40 PM

Clear all your browser cache and cookies and then do it again.

If that doesn't work use an email client and set it up not to show images.

^^
NoneOther, you raised a very good point on this. I'll give you 10 out of 10 for that. :thumb:

Artann 07-06-2012 05:50 PM

This was done a work computer that resets everything every day. I don't think i'll have access to cache and cookies or even ability to clean them, but i will check next time i create an account.
Thanks added for all the help:)
