Default Limited to 10 items. How long does this last?

When you're new to ebay, they limit your account to 10 items or $500 per month.

How many months does it usually take for them to raise your limits? Or does is this dependent on something? I'm trying my very best to get great feedback, but with only being able to list 10 items a month, I'm not sure how they're supposed to get a good feel as to if they should raise my limits.

Any idea how long it takes?

I'm thinking about just listing ten high dollar listings at the same time and start them at a penny, that way it'll go over the $500 limit and there won't be anything they can do about it.

Once you confirm and link your bank account in paypal, they will lift the limit to 100 per month..

I could have sworn I did that

I linked my bank account for sure, and then they sent two small deposits to my account and I had to verify what those amounts were. Is there something else that I have to do? I guess I must have missed something :/

But that's good news though if I can get it lifted to 100. That will help me out a ton

No, they don't always lift to 100....now a days the majority of accounts start out with
10 items / $500. Are there exceptions? Yes. Even on legit accounts people are starting out with 10/$500.

That's it. In my case, after this verification, it's automatically raised the limit.. Instantly..

I'm really counting on the limits being lessened by the beginning of next month. I think next month will be my third month with this account so surely it shouldn't be too much longer. At this point I'd be happy with even selling 20 a month.

I have a 'play' account that I have been messing about with for some time. It has no bank account attached. It had the 10 a month limit and I played with it for 3 months doing the 10 sales. Then it went to 20, now it's 50 - still no bank account attached. Very low value items and very little money going through - as I say, a 'play' account - sort of "What will happen if ...."

By everything we hold as truisms it should have been closed by now and yet .....

Nice work GrannyT.

This type of "research" is good to know and will be helpful for the poor souls that don't have access to their stealth addresses and can't auto-lift selling limits on accounts.

Granny

Let us know how your "play" account works out.

I get no limits, 5 limits, 10 limits, 25 limits.

Never the same. I do everything the same way every time.

I know for a fact.......

Day 1- Day 90 (10 Items a month)

After Day 90 you can call in and have them raised every month. Depending on how well you comply with rules and how your stats are they will raise you accordingly.

Here are the Facts, You must indeed have at least 90 Days logged as a seller, but that is NOT a guaranteed FACT. It is MORE about how much Verification has been Done, this is what TRULY will determine your account limits.

For Example if your account is linked to a Regular Paypal account, you may get a 10% Increase, a FULLY Verified Paypal maybe another 50% Increase, Passing Ebays Verbal User Verification (Phone Interview), may get you an additional 100% Increase, Faxing in a Drivers Licence may get you a 300% increase,,,these numbers are just examples, only Ebay Knows what their EXACT formula is, But I assure you that it is along these lines,,

It is NOT as Ramdon as you might think, it is ALL about how much Ebay Trusts the account to be Authentic in EVERY Way, and Ebay uses HUNDREDS of bits if information that the CONTINOUSLY gather on you to determine this "Trust Score" of theirs, of course bad feedback, DSR's and even Ebay messages effect the score as well
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So PLEASE be VERY careful about "Knowing something for a Fact"

How would you feel if you read a "Fact" and based a Decision on that "Fact" that winds up costing you an account?

I had an account hit 90 days and went from 10 items to 40.

For UK ... attaching an ebay seller account to a fully verified ppal (address confirmed, bank confirmed, vcc confirmes) does not always mean you get the 100 items limit.

I have an account verified, as mentioned above, and it also has a 10/month limit

My account's limits still haven't been raised. I guess I'll see if I can find someone within ebay to email and try to convince them to raise my limits. It can't hurt.

Some have seen lowering of their limits once they asked.

Be careful.

These days you have to call to raise limits. You can only choose to have the number of listings lifted, or dollar amount. You do not get the option for both, also it is for every 30 days.

It has nothing to do with how much you provide to eBay, I have tested this out since this started.

The simply way at first is to click on the raise limits link, and pass the multiple test and you will then get 100/5000 in most cases.

After you passed that, the following 30 days you can try again but will be told to call and they will not ask soft credit check type questions, simple account verification type questions then you may get the option of 200/5000, or 100/7500 and I go on but you get the idea.

This has been the case for accounts that have no Paypal, only a VCC added to make a seller account with a merchant accounts added from the start.

I have tested this in every way possible. They base limits on what you sell due to how it effects the big sellers, and or TRS sellers. Small sellers are not wanted and you have to buy in simply put.

Limits for one account right now are 12k/100 items, we called and was told it has not been 30 days yet, and they would not get us 200 items, number was to high but she spoke with a women, so soon we will call and get a man on the phone and I bet the number goes to 200 items with no increase to the dollar amount.

I wonder if this is a factor also: When you "provide more information" on paypal it asks many questions such as which category you intend to sell in/what your annual income from online sales is/date business was established etc etc etc....so i think is a good idea that your first few listings match the category you put into paypal... e.g. if you chose Clothing Category....then list some clothes to begin with. Don't list your windows7ultimate OEM/monster beats studios/Ugg boots straight off the bat
