| colt63 | 08-20-2012 05:13 PM | UK Bank glitch |
| Imakemoney | 08-20-2012 05:17 PM | Colt, at what point did Halifax contact you about it? & what was the outcome? |
| GrannyT | 08-20-2012 05:18 PM | Please provide more info colt63 - what excatly have they asked and what kind of Halifax account was it - |
| meVebay | 08-20-2012 05:34 PM | The trouble is here in the UK, my experience is that rather than calling you up asking why your receiving deposits in other names, giving you the chance to explain, they just do a blanket shut down of all accounts, normally ending with a category 6 CIFAS marker.
With most the banks merged together in 1 way or another, I suggest you take precautions with who you choose to bank with. |
| colt63 | 08-20-2012 05:38 PM | It would certainly help if they did call you first, but it seems this is not the way they do things here!
From what I experienced, they are not even interested in any explanation. |
| meVebay | 08-20-2012 05:40 PM | The trouble is...even if they did call first, would they be even remotely interested in any story we came up with? Some how I doubt it. |

How long account was in existence..... |
| GrannyT | 08-20-2012 06:00 PM | LOL -No one is panicing GB - but we are all a little bit worried - PM sent |
| arshavin | 08-22-2012 04:51 AM | Anyone else experiencing this? Is halifax now a black mark? |
| Elijah | 08-22-2012 04:58 AM | Not me. I had a transfer come through to my Halifax online savings account yesterday, and was able to transfer it to my current account with no issues. |
| GrannyT | 08-22-2012 09:08 AM | Me too Elijah - two transfers into Halifax accounts went through OK this week. Still worrying though as Halifax has been rock steady for a while now - can't think why they would select Colt63 can you?

:ranger: | Yep, both Halifax and BoS withdrawals went through fine for me.
Can only assume this is a bank employee that has noticed the different names, flagged it to the branch manager and he has then taken the action based on the account history. |
forgive me if i am wrong
but didnt halifax get took over by a bank we dont recommend
lloyds was it :noidea: |

lloyds was it :noidea: | Is it not Bank Of Scotland? HBoS etc?
I have Easycash accounts with both - no issues. |
| Elijah | 08-22-2012 08:54 PM | Ebayorbust, he meant LLoyd's TSB. The worst bank for stealth. |
| Ebayorbust | 08-23-2012 02:41 AM | Cheers. I wasn't aware of that.
I still dont think this has anything to do with the OP's problem. If it was, it would be far more widespread (unless this is just the start of it). |
i agree ebayorbust
this take over was way back when...2009 i think:noidea: |
| Stigger | 08-24-2012 03:28 AM | deffo not long ago and it was them who took over Bos and Halifax.
think it was about 12 months ago or so, but changes are been implineted now, it obvious if you use to your local branches. |
| Callidus | 08-25-2012 03:39 PM | So is this causing a problem for lots of people now then or just individuals?
Do we think this is just unlucky for the OP or could they be checking? |
| GrannyT | 08-25-2012 04:04 PM | The OP was unlucky and had a particular problem - situation needs monitoring |
| Imakemoney | 08-25-2012 04:21 PM | I think he has been unlucky...
As far as I can figure out so far it takes some sort of manual review of an account for it to be noticed....
For instance how many bank accounts did he have with the bank? & how many different names were coming into his x amount of accounts? All are factors...if hes got say 7-8 accounts & someone is manually looking at the account for whatever reason they of course are going to ask questions...
The only time we need to worry (apart from bad luck) - is when they are automatically flagged when deposits come in from a different name. :juggle: |
| cortex | 08-26-2012 08:38 AM | Halifax seems okay for me....for now anyway..... nice that the OP mentioned it though |
| Stigger | 08-28-2012 03:09 AM | All the people that bank with these, Did not one of you get the notice of variation leaflet ???
will deffo probably put the wind up a few. |
| GrannyT | 08-28-2012 03:50 AM | I never got that TW - care to expand a bit? |
