Yes opening a UK bank account online is possible providing you are able to be identified by electronic checks e.g electoral register. If you are not then be prepared to take ID docs in to a branch office
When applying for new accounts only apply for basic accounts and not current accounts as these will result in full credit checks being carried out on you and may have an adverse effect on your ability to open future accounts or obtain credit.
Most banks are good but avoid Lloyds
Yes you can use an iPad but do NOT use e/b or p/p apps. Browser is fine as long as you observe stealth guidlines regarding IP and cookies etc.
