Default How many day before your first listing

I was wondering as a rule of thumb how mnay days should you wait before making your fist listing.

I made an 10/$1000 account last night. First listing being a book then i listed my regulat inventory priced at 10-25 dollars each. but i got an MC999 please call us thing.

I managed to get the limitation removed over the phone by comfirming account info and answering none of the above questions.

I know they say its best to wait 30 days but its xmas and i dont want to wait lol

That's weird, I've made 3 new accounts since August and started listing main inventory within 2 weeks with no problems. Did you get everything fully verified before listing?

I prefer 2-4 weeks of buying and browsing before selling.

That might be it, I always wait at least a week before selling from the time the eB and PP accounts are linked.

That wouldn't be it. This is one of the many myths on here regarding eBay/Paypal... if done correctly, there is no problem listing minutes after creating the account. In fact I have had more problems when I wait more than a few days before listing.

Oh? So just because it didn't happen to you means it doesn't happen to anyone else? There is evidence that this could be one of the reasons of limitation, this is from posts by other members and their experience with MC999s

sommer33:
"one of my new stealth got mc999, all listing removed. i thought you can't loose nothing to call, so i called. turns out ebay auto detects suspicious activity like new, selling fast, selling brand item. but when i explained and asked ebay to look at the listings, they realized all i was selling was used brand items. they very easily reinstated everything.

so lessons learned: do not rush with selling. i listed all 10 same brand items 1 day after account creation."

Tilapas
"My stealth paypal accounts are always fine but my ebay accounts always get MC999 suspensions within 24 hours of listing 1-2items."

NGALO1983
"Thats what happen to me the first time too. Paypal was verified but Ebay deleted my ish within 5 minutes of selling. I got five new ebay and paypal up and running. I learned to wait a couple of days about 3-4 days before I list my first item for sale."

------------------------------------------

Anyways to OP as long as the limitation was removed I'm thinking you are good to go but, I wouldn't go haywire. Well you can't really with a 10/$1000 limit. I'd advise creating more accounts to work with if you plan to make any real money.

Nobody can really guess exactly why you got the MC999. MC999 is probably the vaguest limitation they impose on sellers, it can be applied to a myriad of violations and they rarely go into detail as to exactly what or why. They just give you something like "Our decision was based on stupid reasons and we are too incompetent to tell you exactly why..." or "Please call to confirm information"

i concur

i also list immediately after creating an account

after all im creating a sellers account to erm......sell

i always go for the "im a genuine business, and not a bedroom boy" angle

works for me too

Is it possible that the wait time rule should be applied differently depending on if you are selling on Ebay US or UK? By this thread it would seem that way.

I made a US account and didn't have a problem either. But unlike the OP I didn't list everything at once.

It's interesting that you are finding more success and less mc999s with selling on newer accounts. I am beyond sick and tired of getting hit with mc999s. I've had two of my new accounts get hit over the past week. I've successfully got one reinstated and am working on the second. I think a lot of it depends who you talk to at eBay.

if you sell household items you can sell right away, if you are selling risky items you can not list them all at once and i wouldn't list more than 1 per month anyway until the account has some age...it's what works for me

I honestly wish you could stop these claims of 'myths'.

One person's different experiences does not make a practice a myth.

You were not here in the early days of the forum.

You were not party to the many things that happened and how much work went into giving a wide variety of users the BEST METHODS to avoid getting newly made accounts suspended.

At first this was geared more to the USA sellers. It became obvious that UK & other countries' sellers could take benefit from the suggestions.

Since the bottom line is to make a new stealth account and have it last, it is expedient to do it in the very best manner from the get go.
I find the old slow way works each & every time.
I find hassles where I have veered off the older methods I know.

It's obvious more users will have different success. We therefore need to still work to give newbies the best means to start again

One thing I do know is that it is no myth about trying to keep a new stealth account running.

True - the new users should be taking things slow
