Postman left parcel over the fence :/

I sent a parcel by Second class recorded service.

The buyer is complaining that there is a note left by the postman that the parcel is "Left over the fence". When they checked , nothing there.

Tracking number shows "progressed through our network for delivery" (Royal mail)

What can be done in this case? Buyer is asking for a refund??

my guess is the buyer is lying and because he never actually got the goods to his hands is saying he never got them as there is no proof.

what is the item? Tell him you can send a replacement out next week and see what he says

Contact the buyer.

(Either phone or via ebay messages)

Agree they can get a refund provided they give info you need....
Ask the buyer for the staff number that must be on ALL Royal Mail notices.

Mention this is needed for the claim you are filing with the Police & Royal Mail because of theft of your item. Hint you have told ebay if you speak by phone.

was value of item over the RM claim limit?

bottom line is that without signature the buyer will win a dispute, if they send paperwork to you then fine but you can also proceed without it and make a claim.

if there is no signature, then it is quite possible the buyer is telling the truth, the post people were rushing around prior to xmas......

other possibilty is that the buyer got it but because of the rush was not asked for signature, that happens occasionally.

either way you will get some money back via a claim, you need to send originals of receipt of the value and postal receipt, they will write to buyer to verify. They do not need the 'while you were out card' you do not need to mention that.

depends how much the buyer knows about the system, as to whether they get scared by you saying they will get reported and back down, but if they know the system then it is no signature= win claim...
