In a situation...

Hi guys,

I have come across a situation with a buyer, my prices on my items are so good someone wants to buy 100 pcs from me.

Obviously I can supply these at a good price to my customer however, I dont usually sell lots of this particular product.

I am worried about a chargeback or some sort of scam here as you dont get many people ask for 100 pcs through eBay....

would you list 100 copies as a sale through eBay take the money through PayPal then supply tracking and hope that there is no scam?

In addition to this I have just looked at their feedback received for buying yesterday and today and they are buying all the cheap NEW copies of this from other sellers, does this sound dodgy or is it me?

Any advice on this would be appreciated

you can do that or you can create an invoice and have them wire you the $. they can also use escrow.com. i would suggest you have proof of where your merchandise came from either way.
another idea is do a smaller test order with them, let's say 20 items, just as a test run

slim - thanks for your reply.

I may need to get creative then!

Do you think this could kill an eBay account?

Without knowing what this product is it doesnt sound like a scam. Sounds like this person has somewhere he can flip these items for a quick profit. Sneezing can kill an ebay account these days.

I smell the decay of death UNLESS you are really careful.

I would endeavour to find out more about the buyer other than feedback on an ebay account.

I would carefully look at the options of even using ebay/paypal.

1st question I want answered is What is this buyer's motive?
read the below thread

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/subscri...ues-buyer.html

2nd question is How can I defend myself against issues

if hes not very far from you id advise to meet up with them? that way you can save fees also get cash in hand.

Callidus 02-02-2013 04:38 AM

I have found out more about the buyer OUTSIDE of eBay.

He is doing exactly what zone said, he will be reselling them OFFLINE but cannot buy them anywhere near the price I sell at :D

He obviously is wanting protection as doesnt know me from adam, however he doesn't live anywhere near me.

Need advice as I am reluctant to go down the PayPal route + the fees on 100 is astronomical so his price would need to be higher to factor this in (partly)

Callidus 02-02-2013 04:51 AM

Buyer is willing to take them today as long as the transaction is through eBay!!

Am I in for a whole load of trouble with PP / eBay?

GreenBean 02-02-2013 05:37 AM

Blunt question: what do your guts feel?

They appear to not be feeling the best if you can not make up your mind.

A reseller of your item off ebay demanding ebay?

Gimme me break

:deadhorse:

Buyers feedback 100% from 2000.

100 pcs of an item.

Will be selling off eBay but wants to pay through PayPal for 'security' of the transaction.

Now why am I debating this? I'm debating this because I get worried about PayPals actions!

Has this person purchased 1 of low order with you before? they have orders of the same item with other sellers. this is what i would look at....

I had a customer late year with a similar situation, wanting 250 of an item who also had small purchases of the same thing with other sellers. The difference however was they also have a previous order of 2 of the item with myself.

I had no problem going along with it since it seemed logical to be making small test orders with sellers before enquiring about a large order, also gave the person some room to negotiate the price slightly with the feedback showing some small test orders.

I also completed the order through ebay and didn't go off it, is it not cheaper for 1 x 100 through ebay/paypal with shipping than with 100 individual....

Callidus 02-02-2013 06:32 AM

Frank - thanks for the reply.

Yes they have placed 1 initial test order with myself then want the 100 pcs from me.

the fees are exactly the same for 1 x 100 rather than 100 individual as its exactly the same value as 100 individuals.....

I think this is OK tbh and will go through the transaction through eBay however was just worried PP will hold the funds or something.

It will come to £895 - how long would you leave in the account before withdrawing any, then how much would you withdraw at a time?

rsot 02-02-2013 09:51 AM

Can you call him up? Speak to him? Avoid pp and eb if you can

Bunneh 02-02-2013 10:49 AM

Well i would seriously ask yourself ''What have i got to lose''
and also ''How badly do i need his money''
And this should give you your answer.

Personally, i would be worried about a credit card charge back for that value you mention.
OR
I would also prepare myself for the buyer coming back and saying
'' X amount of items have faults, broken etc..'' for free replacements.

Either way send it special delivery if you can so that you have that extra assurance, insurance and cover for yourself.
Because, your luck you send it signed for and he has one of those addresses that royal mail dont mind if it isn't signed for

Good luck!!
