Default Idiot or scammer?

So I get the feeling I am being set up by a buyer on Az. He buys a $230 sound system. Then I get a return request, reason - he can get it for $175 new. I know this is a lie since the retail price is tightly controlled and it goes now for $199. So I send him a message and say I will match the price if he sends me a link or snapshot plus give him an extra $5 bonus. He then complains to az that I am being uncooperative and wont authorize the return.

So I get the feeling he wants to send me some piece of junk return. I guess this is not going to end well. We will see.

Open box item so technically not new but definitely like-new. He knew that when he bought it. He is not claiming there is anything wrong with item- just that he thinks he found a better deal. So I try to save him the hassle of returning it - he will have to cover the shipping (about $20). I don't believe he can get it for $175 unless its a stolen box.

So I offer him to keep mine for $170 or else he returns it pays $20 shipping, wasting time, and buys this other one he says is $175 for total of $195. So you tell me, idiot or scam?

You are selling on Amazon. If Amazon rules in his favor they DO NOT require the buyer to ship back the item. You have little rights as a seller.

He hasn't opened up a claim- just a return request. So I am trying to help this guy out by actually offering a partial refund to meet his new price.
All I asked was for proof this new deal exists out there from a reputable dealer. It was a simple offer really. I was expecting "yes thank you" or "no thanks I would still like to return it".

He instead calls CS saying I am uncooperative. Hello???

Basically I just wanted to set up a poll on here to see how many people think I am about to be scammed or how many think this guy is just some sub-human creature that can't figure out how to tie his shoes yet.

My gut tells me this is a scammer and I will get back a brick in a box. But that's just me.

To me, it's a scam. No one has ever refused my partial refund offers in the way you describe. I absolutely hate dealing with any returns, so I immediately take action with partial refunds. If he is completely neglecting to offer any proof of such a price existing, he's just waiting to f**k you over.

You have 174 good reasons to counteract his actions.

Bottom line the buyer is an idiotic scammer.

Call his bluff. Dont be wasting time here on polls.

YOUR gut feelings are what matter.

It's a scam.

Find some clever way of letting him know that if he is a scammer, he won't get away with it.

You cant....went to my order page and all of the parts I bought for my AK47 had "file AZ complaint" next to it EXCEPT for the muzzle brake I bought from Amazon.

Sigh - the power of the buyer - I also foresee this not ending well - yes pushback but...it's annoying - up your other sales to compensate for this potential ugly affair
