What amount usually gets you limited ?

I've sold my laptop recently and got limited, because of the high price I guess during the withdrawal: pending, process.

What sort of amounts/items usually make them react with this way ?

I've listed my iPhone now... I hope I won't have problems.

Ukdirect 02-28-2013 06:19 AM

Its not just amounts that get you limited, its types of items that eBay/PayPal think are high risk. Unfortunately an iPhone is one of these items.

You can't just create a new eBay account and start listing high value items like phones and laptops, you need to build up trust with both eBay and PayPal.

First thing to do is get the stealth guide and read how to build up a solid eBay/PayPal account, once you have learnt how to do this you can build up your account and list whatever you need but its not an overnight thing it takes time.

I've read the stealth guide ! Can you please tell me what you personally think a mature account is exactly ?

I wouldn't list a phone or laptop on any account less than 90 days old, but its not just the age. You need to be selling consistently, dispatching items fast with tracking info, answering messages within 24 hours and receiving positive feedback.

You need to prove yourself to eBay and PayPal

GreenBean 02-28-2013 06:43 AM

Stop asking people to give 'personal' opinions.

It's YOUR choice. We can post what happens, make suggestions. But you need to choose.

How are you going to cope when you get limited for $7.50?

The issue is the state of your account in the eys of ebay & paypal.

Are you listing that iphone on a new account?
:faint:

rsot 02-28-2013 07:11 AM

First item being listed as an iPhone? You really need to search the forums more ...electronics = high risk

testdog 02-28-2013 08:21 AM

The account is older than 90 days, this is not the first item sold but no item has been confirmed as "received" yet. I started selling recently.

@GreenBean: I am a bit insecure :)

Ukdirect 02-28-2013 08:42 AM

When we say 90 days old, we don't mean 90 days registered but only selling for a week. You need at least a solid 90 days selling to even start building a solid account that will last

GreenBean 02-28-2013 08:54 AM

So am I now.

This has not been a better choice of an item to list.

Your account is low on the scale of trust.

the item is high risk. Have you covered yourself for scammers?

What country is the listing?

testdog 02-28-2013 09:12 AM

How shall I cover myself ? It's in ebay.co.uk

You got limited only after starting the withdrawal process? Is that right?

How long did you leave the money for before withdrawing?

testdog 02-28-2013 11:51 AM

A few seconds :P

bruceuk 02-28-2013 11:57 AM

testdog you have been on this forum for some time now .
You should know better !
The problems you are facing are caused by YOU ...

testdog 02-28-2013 12:04 PM

Please explain a bit more specifically.

Elijah 02-28-2013 01:10 PM

Dude I am 99.9% sure that this is why you got limited. Also keep your withdrawal amount low.

testdog 02-28-2013 01:12 PM

How long should I leave them sit there ?

Listing an iphone on basically a new account - FAIL!
Immediately trying to withdraw a sizeable amount of money on a new account within seconds of it being received- FAIL!

Is that specific enough for you?

Elijah 02-28-2013 01:13 PM

At least 12 hours, and I emphasise the "at least" part. Don't make PayPal see you as the hit and run guy...

On a brand new Stealth I wait at least 5 days before any withdrawal.

What's the rush people. If you're broke then wait. Borrow money from someone.

Build a stealth only to lose it bacuse you're broke. Huh!

I always withdraw right when I get the "you received a payment from XXXX" email. Sometimes making multiple withdrawals for large amounts within minutes of each other. But I have done this ever since opening the account, so that pattern has been established already.

It is variation that throws a flag as well....if you are consistent in your practices, they expect it. You deviate from the norm and it lights off the fireworks.

On a brand new stealth with funds I am not going to withdraw the second it hits.

I have over 20 stealth PPs and no problems so far.
