Default setting up accounts in my mums name or being stealth questions

I'm planning to set up a account in my mums name and father in laws name, with their permission of course, but have read on here thasts not a good idea, I'd also use her address, my mum and father in law have no interest in PayPal or ebay whatsoever and never have nor never plan on using the sites. Is this a good idea.

No.
No.
No.
Not a wise idea.

What exactly do you mean though? Mum's name AND father-in-law's name? that is two different marriages in my eyes.

At a pinch maybe the address but not their info could be considered.

Would suggest a rethink

2 seperate accounts, what reason do you think its a bad idea? Is it anything to do with the inland revenue?

Too easy to make stealth accounts to use their info.

No need to put them at any risk.

Read the story about the retiree who lost everything they put into retirement on the stock market and went to sell of his collection only to find out he cannot get an ebay or pp account.

I understand they might know it but not worth it esp when so many options are out there for you.

Default so, i was about to make my stealth account.

And found that its maybe not such a good idea to use family names and address'. So herres my question, let's assume I've set up PayPal in stealth name and address (stealth first name, my real surname as I read its better for the banks) I confirm and verify my paypal then try to lift the 1,900 receiving/sending limit.

But I read that PayPal in the UK check to see if your on the electoral roll/polling register, but stealth me is not on the roll, will that mean I instantly have to send in the documents?

Sorry for all the questions I really want to get this right before I do my first stealth, thanks again.

Thanks, but my mum really honestly has no interest in eBay or pay pal and would never use it, if that was the only reason. I was going to ask my cousin too, but she's much younger ( again no interest in eBay, but her being much younger, could one day decide to use it, she uses the internet, whereas my mum never does, never wants to )

I totally understand where your coming from with the retiree, but I'm not planning on selling a ton each month so chargebacks and eBay fee's would all be taken care of.

You are correct. The check will fail because you are stealth and you will be asked to submit documents that match the name on the stealth account.

We don't really talk in detail on the forum regarding this step but if you are unsure of what needs done, drop a moderator a PM. Greenbean is a good starting point.

Regarding post one, do NOT use mum and stepdads details. I REPEAT, do NOT use mum and stepdads details.

How many more members do you need to hear this from?

Thanks for the replies, out of curiosity what are the reasons apart from ruining their chance of using the sites and if I went into a negative balance? Is it to do with inland revenue?

No - use stealth names. Done - do not burn family's info.

So if I use a stealth name ( my surname, made up first name, I've read a few times the banks prefer to see at least the matching surname coming in during withdrawals from PayPal) and my mums address, again she has my surname, would this be OK ( to clarify this is for PayPal and eBay, as I have permission and access to that address)

If you are insisting on using their address, then fine, but do NOT use any real person's name that lives there or their dob.

Use a completely made up name (including surname) and dob.

The bank (unless it is Lloyds) will not bother about the different name on the account.

Have you done that yourself ( the address) as mentioned I don't want to get anyone in any trouble.

If you went into negative balance, PP may go after the person listed on the account in terms of CREDIT collections. And if that person found out hey! identity theft! - they could do police report and find you...criminal activity! One of the few possibilities that exist...
