I had a stealth account reviewed because I used a stock image in Dec 2012.

They were asking to verify my identity. But the main reason, they told me, my account was flagged was because I used a stock photo. Ebay told me that they want real photos of the items because it helps prove you have the item in your possession.

After learning this, I stopped using stock photos on my stealth accounts and haven't had any problems since.

One way they can tell is they probably use technology like google image's photo matching.

Also sales were better using my photos.

Spot on there.

Looks nicer to entice the buyers. Personal touch.

Nice work.

Stock images are known to cause issues - vErO or not

GreenBean 06-14-2013 06:21 PM

Always prefer my own images.

Do them better than the stock ones

LOL.

If presented a choice buyers typically favor the listing with nice non stock photos even if slightly more expensive.

All my photos were at least that size & I hardly used stock photos. The no watermarks is a pain in the #%$, but you can exif tag your photos and report photo thieves.

@Mr. Invisible

Appears it is no advertising on the watermarks. Doing a tester later today to confirm.(ebay USA)

Too many photo thieves - thats why I do like a watermark/user name on them

GreenBean 06-17-2013 05:51 PM

Until it is confirmed, avoid the user name in case it is seen as advertising.

Havent had that problem - only q I get on occasion is the buyer saying "Uh is the username on the actual item"?

This is annoying to be honest. Ebay & paypal this year have been doing so many strange things this year. It's just more steps closer to something BIG and call it intuition, but we all need start securing our eggs in a few other baskets if you haven't.

People love to steal very good photos.

I have caught them stealing my photo and adding a border etc to change it up a bit.

Hopefully this will stop this from happening as well.
