Add Tax ID to a Paypal account that already has a SSN

So the Paypal account already has an SSN. Now I want to add a TAX ID, and would like to get the 1099 Form on the Tax ID, not on the social. Paypal account is business.


If I add the Tax ID in the Paypal account settings, do I need to do anything else special to get this done? Like call them for example, or some other hidden account settings?

Ensure that all your info matches.

Will the SSN on file match the TAX ID you want to supply.

This will backfire if the info differs.

It's already business.

I would just update the information, in this case.

You can update any of the information of the business, including the name and Tax ID at any time.

Right, but the question remains. Do they issue the 1099 on the TIN or the SSN?

When you add the EIN, go to the account options page. It will give you a choice of reporting under either number. PayPal doesn't care which number they use, they just need to be in compliance with the law.
