DL are not public record, even if ebay might have the right to access the DL data.
| Many people are surprised to find out what is available as a "public record". For example, property taxpayer records are public data. So are deeds and transfers. Given an address, almost anyone can find out who the "taxpayer of record" is for that address. 99% of the time, it is the property owner. Other information that can be had is the date the property was last sold, the amount it was sold for, any liens on the property (and a mortgage IS a lien!).
Vehicle title records, boat and aircraft title records, bankruptcy information, court proceedings (although a judge CAN seal certain records under some circumstances) and public employee data (including salary information) is all easily available in most places.
Some states have put privacy restrictions on such records, but that usually only stops individuals from obtaining your information. Companies can pretty much get whatever they want. And law enforcement, the IRS and many other government agencies are not subject to privacy restrictions AT ALL.
Just search online for privacy. Pretty soon you will find several websites that tell you what is available and how to get it. You are likely to be SHOCKED at what is out there! |
