Maybe we shouldn't verify and sell, then we'll get the softball questions? | So you were able to sell 1 item and then on the second listing you received a MC999? That happened to me once, but usually I get MC999 on the 1st listing. |
| glacier922 | 11-12-2013 08:43 PM | Re: The New MC999 "To Avoid Ideas" Master list Yes, that's true. I got an MC999 after I sold something. Printed the shipping label and shipped and everything. Then I tried to relist, it went okay until the following day, then I got an MC999. Then I called with my GV number and they gave me the softball questions. I was actually preparing for the database questions, and was a little nervous. It was weird that they didn't ask for it. They asked if my number was a GV, and they tried to get me to put in a real number, which I did not. Then she just asked me to put in a bank acct. |
| Speeder33 | 11-12-2013 08:47 PM | Re: The New MC999 "To Avoid Ideas" Master list My most recent call wouldn't even ask me the softball questions until I added a bank account. Worries me that she asked you if you were using GV, hope that GV is not dying. |

Within the next few months it'll be common knowledge on this board, but for now, eliminate it from your routine. Plenty of cheap prepaid cell phones that do a great job and won't cause the problems that GV will.
Ebay has decided that the majority of Stealth users verify the phone using forwarding services, so they're targeting them. |

| HurricaneHuntr | 12-04-2013 02:05 PM | Re: The New MC999 "To Avoid Ideas" Master list Just created a new one yesterday. immediately 0/0 limits, even after listing the 99 cent item. Account immediately got flagged, i was asked to call in with "=email1505 " link in the ebay message. They asked me the typical BS questions and lifted the limit back to 30/1500
And yes a google voice was used, i have never had them ask me if my phone is a gv. I've had them ask is it a cell phone or land line, i always say cell phone. If they are asking, they don't know, and if they know and you're lying, why would they lift the suspensions etc.? I still call bs on GV for now as long as it works for me.
A week or so ago, i had another where they asked me database questions, i answered none of the above on all and they lifted that restriction as well |

The whole point of this is to avoid getting the mc999, you got lucky with the database questions, won't happen every time. |
| turkeyhunt | 12-07-2013 09:00 AM | Re: The New MC999 "To Avoid Ideas" Master list Hmm, THat's interesting to learn about the GV. I don't use them personally, but still need to store that information away. I still get the new mc999 on occasion, but not as much as I used to. I figured it was because of the holidays.
On the few I do get them on I didn't do anything different to them than the ones that I didn't get the message on. So I just consider a fluke. It would be helpful to learn what the trigger is, though I must say I learn a lot of tips given by the ebay reps when I call
lol |
| john456 | 12-12-2013 01:21 AM | Re: The New MC999 "To Avoid Ideas" Master list Ebay can tell who is the provider of the phone number you enter. If it is GV, it typically shows up as a 'landine - internet provider'.
I don't think ebay can tell for sure if it is Google Voice or a ip phone service via comcast. |

| slapped | 12-12-2013 03:07 AM | Re: The New MC999 "To Avoid Ideas" Master list MC999, is a GENERIC Code that indicates that something has Happened or WILL happen to your accounts Status,,,
You May Get a MC999, because Ebay has Suspended your account because they want More information
You May Get a MC999, because you Violated the V E R O Program in any one of a BUNCH of different Ways
You May Get a MC999, because your listing were removed because a Buyer Reported you for something
You May Get a MC999, simply because of a Duplicate listing,,,or ANY one of a DOZEN or MORE Listing Violations
and, MANY, MANY More reasons,,,Resulting in Either a Suspended Account, that May or May NOT be Reinstated, or a Warning that pretty much says that if you continue whatever Policy Violation, that your account WILL be suspended,,
So Basically ANY Policy Violation (of which there are HUNDREDS) will Generate an MC999
so if you want a 'List",,,Just create a List of everything that violates Ebays Policies and you have it,,anything else is a waste of time |
