Default 70% ready to dip my toes in but still nagging questions!

Hello all,

I am getting ready to go down the stealth route having browsed the forums regularly in the past and bought a copy of eBay Stealth I am a bit confused with an important 10% which is stopping me from proceeding ( the final 20% will come from more experience as I am sure I will learn new things as I go along )

I am a bit stumped on IP despite having read the book several times and read through 100's of posts ( some more than once! ) and basically the router reset is that basically unplugging and restarting the router as I notice through the ip burger and another 2 suggested on the forums I get a different IP each time. from reading eBay Stealth it seemed very complicated and I was even confused as to which option was pertinant to me!

If it is as simple as that , then having seen a great excel template on the forums would I log in the IP addresses/ reset the router on a non ebay windows user account before logging into a user account I wish to use for ebay.
Eg. user account A B C. A has the excel. B and C are separate ebay/ paypal accounts.
Log in to my user account A, take the new IP and check it on excel to make sure it has not been used before on B. Therefore I know i's ok to log into user account B. If I want to go to C I would then need to log off ebay/ paypal go to user account A and repeat initial process.

Sorry this might seem a bit long winded, I thought I would be a bit more concise rather than asking several questions and I have learnt from the forums that thorough planning is the way to go rather than the bish bash bosh impatient , desperate approach which is never going to really work longer term. Learnt the hard way but surely not the first or last to!

The key point is to make sure not to reuse the same IP across accounts - correct logging of the IPs avoids this issue. You are on the right track

You do not need A to change, just do not visit other websites until after you have checked your IP.

Ebay is part of that shared cookie group, so just go direct to IP checking site, or have it as your home page just in case you are tired one day and forget to check.

Aha, thanks for that it's a bit less complicated this way.

I'm considering getting VPN.
Do I have to still worry about IP's?

One thing I don't grasp is one can enter one's eBay account from anywhere and the IP will be different each time. So, where is the conflict? where is the giveaway?

Just make sure the IP DID change just as others said. If you have a Static IP, then it SHOULD change each time you reset the router. If you have a Static/dynamic, you may have to change the mac address in the router under WAN settings (In my case at least) and then you have to reset the router AND modem to get it to assign the new IP for your network.

Thanks very much for that. I am not the most technical and have confused myself a number of times with all the reading I have done about IP addresses! I am not sure about static or dynamic just I know each time that I reset the router and look on IPBurger and other sites recommended on the forums the IP it gives is different. I am hoping this is sufficient? Where I got confused from reading eBay Stealth, threads on forums etc was the relevance of MAC address.

for A you need Ip address that has not been used on b and c before

for B you need Ip address that has not been used on a and c before

for C you need Ip address that has not been used on a and b before

The reason i have put this is because if you read you original post, the way you describe it would cause you to be linked.

I would use A as a general windows account without anything connected to ebay or paypal on it so would have used it just to test the IP was not one that had been used on the ebay/ paypal windows accounts B/C. I would not have windows mail or anything on it and thinking better, just use it to open the webpage for IPBurger or whatever to check the ip address. Does this make more sense? To me it does how I have explained it this time, but another might see a flaw in it and I would rather look like a dummy than make a mistake!

I don't think his problem is ABC but rather how to get from B to C.
As A, in the original post, was a none ebay neutral user account that he would use for the sole purpose of changing IP, which I think would be time consuming as he adds more accounts.

My fault for going off and making a cup of tea.

He is in the UK so will be lucky to find a fixed IP, as when i wanted one None of the providers offered one. But you can get some really sticky IP's that are a pain.

I usually test the IP on a seperate clean laptop,
each time i change the IP.
i use both ipchicken and whatismyip to ensure is the correct ip.

Does anyone have an issue with google to check IP? That is what I do.. it is another tab that I leave open. Refresh it when I expect a new IP.. Then check my excl doc.

That makes sense too. i think it will be testing the water and finding the best way as I go along. Still trying to iron out ip and windows account issues before I open any kind of account.

Also always depends on your budget: if your budget (just for comp) is <200$ I would recommend getting a standalone computer and dedicate a dongle for it (given you have only the one account). If you want multiple accounts or your budget is >$300, I would go with an AMD APU custom setup and run virtual machines with XP and then create users inside of XP. Then your excel doc is in main OS, and you can check ip's before going into user.

I work with computer systems for a side job as fyi

The simple solution to your IP address problem is simply buy yourself a 3 Dongle for your

stealth accounts and when you change User accounts simply un-plug the dongle then re-

insert it. It maybe an extra cost but it is worth it as you do not have to worry about

checking your IP address ever again as it changes with every un-plug.

It's going well I would say, thanks for asking, slowly but surely. Having had 30+ accounts over the past 13 years, I still have to train myself not to have the normal wham bam, must get back on ebay mentality and having accounts go down after 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or whatever.

I think Christmas has helped as I am now somewhat forced not to list stuff quickly so that helps with the re-programming of my circuit boards!

Done alot of browsing over a few accounts and my goodness some of the rubbish I have been looking at. Earlier I looked at an I love Pigeons mug!

As for the IP I think I got that sorted and am working on sorting out an excel system for that and each account but at the moment its down on paper but I wont stay like that too long.

Have sold about 20 items over 3 accounts in the last 2 weeks. Also got others maturing. Have completed 3 withdrawals from Paypal also.
I had one ebay account set up and when I went through the process it immediately gave me 100/3500! I don't think I'll ever fathom out the criteria they have for selling limits and not sure many/any people have!
Of course I didnt list 100 right off the bat
