Hello All...I need help with the dba
 

Hi,

here are some details about me....
I sold on ebay for a year and suddenly got suspended permanently. No idea why and calls to them got me no answers. All I got was sorry and that was last year. But I still continued to buy on ebay. After some googleing I found ebay stealth, bought the book and followed all the steps.
But all of the sudden, I received a email to open a store, I called and they set it up with me. But my trust level is low so I still followed the steps in the book and started to set up a dba.

Got a dba with the town, got a bank account for the dba and a p.o.box.
But here are some questions I'm a bit confused on...

With a dba, do I have to register with ebay/ paypal as an merchant/business?

Also can I use my ssn with the dba for the registration for paypal or do I have to get a EIN number?
I would like to stay away from a EIN number because I just want to sell as a privat person, not to have file taxes, if I understand the EIN number correctly.
Am I wrong on the tax situation?

If you want to sell as a private person why would you register a DBA? Regardless of how you sell. By law in the United States you are suppose to report any income you earn.

If you want to sell over 200 items or 20k in a year in the United States. PayPal will limit your account before it hits those marks asking you to give them your Tax ID number. If you go over those thresholds and have given them your Tax ID regardless if it is a EIN or SSN. You will have a 1099k filed by PayPal with the IRS.

I did the dba because of the new bank accounts. My name is quite unique and I could not get a account with a variation.
But now I know how it goes and I did 2 dba's and I'm working on how to set up the new ones with pp and ebay.
