Default MC999 approach

I have a 2 month old stealth acct. After I listed the 1st item got MC999 in <20 mins. I was so upset because of all the resources & $ I had put into it. It was a small remote control that I bought and didn't need for $10. I have always sold new cell phone accessories for <$5 to get all of my stealths going so I didn't see a problem.

WRONG! I am not good when stressed so I dreaded having to call but SandyD gave me a shove. Bless that lady. I called, waited only 15 mins. and got a super nice Asian lady. I just played dumb & nervous to her. Told her I didn't have a clue about any of this and computers were not my thing. I used my head when she asked questions like do you have a distributor? I said what's that? Do I need one? Laughed again. she verified the information and said sorry for the inconvenience your account & listing is restored and you can list anything you care to within my limits 10/1000.

When she had previously asked what I intended to sell I said I lost a lot of weight & wanted to sell my nice old clothes. I asked her why I got the MC999 and she said it was routine verification & had nothing to do with the item. I don't think in her position she really knows why but I see now it was risky.

My point here is not to get told that I was careless from the forum (I know that) but to offer hope if you have anxiety like I do. Suggest you also wait a day to calm down before calling. LOL

Congrats! Had the same situation myself. GoteBay gave a few words of inspiration and off I went. Was def much easier than what I had anticipated!! Like you, I played dumb, got a laugh from the rep, and got restriction lifted!!!

Have to play Devil's Adovcate here.

This can work.

This not going to work for everyone.

Sellers intending to call in must understand the risk of a call to ebay.

Not saying that this has not been a good win. Joel did very well.

Be prudent if faced with the option.

Joel, on you go to good selling, my Friend

I just made 4 stealth accts today and made a listing for each with a p90x item to see what would happen all accounts is still up and running guess I will see if it is still up tomorrow.

No I do not sell p90x I just made these listing to see what will happen because I always get the MC999 when I list household items.

Had MC999 yesterday on an account 4 months old. Limits were 85/2300 - probably sold too quick but I thought I would max it out.

Sold 79 items and MC999 - Please call in.

I called yesterday immediately and spoke to a guy who asked for ID and invoices. Sent them in via the uploader and reinstated this morning

As Greenie says, it doesn't work for everyone. The guy told me on the phone that the MC999 hadn't ''ended my eBay selling career'' - he was quite right as all my other accounts were fine.

Tread carefully

As you have said, the rate at which you sold the 79 items probably triggered this. Selling up to your maximum selling limits definitely does not cause it.

Good to hear it got sorted.
