Price Trending...

As of this afternoon I have noticed they have introduced 'Price Trending' onto each sellers page when a customer is viewing an item. It tells them the average price across all similar listings of the same product.

I assume this is just so the buyers think they're getting a good deal when they see my price is £X lower than the average...

Never seen it before and only appeared between page refreshes...

Seems to be geared for buyers...especially for COMPULSIVE buyers...but these buyers are also known for making a lot of returns which is a nuisance to us sellers...so, not really a great thing

This "Price Trending" feature is absolute GARBAGE! And is currently hurting my sales.

eBay is not taking into account the sellers that are offering free shipping.

Most non-TRS sellers are still selling items without free shipping and eBay calculates the price trending data on the actual price without folding in the shipping costs, which makes my items look like they are over-priced.

Ah, so if someone is at 10.99 and 5£ postage and your item is £13.99 free shipping.... The one with free shipping is being punished, right?

No, not being punished:

BUT: If a customer is on your page and is ready to buy, and they see this "Price Trending Price"...they might be inclined to go look for it, leaving your page and buying elsewhere.
