Activity: 0% Longevity: 59% | | eBay UK New MC999
Created an account yesterday, listed an item.
On average 1 out of 6 accounts I create this way get hit with MC999 with a request for documents, which I duly provide and it's no problem.
However, it seems the eBay UK have now adopted the USA approach. I missed a call probably 25 minutes after I listed my item, and 7 minutes after the call I got hit with MC999 with a 48 hour timescale to call in or receive a call otherwise my account would be suspended.
I called in, and was told I would have to answer some questions, and if the answers were correct my listing would be reinstated and my account would not be suspended. My initial thoughts were....they are using equifax to generate credit file questions... uh ohhh.... but no, thankfully, they were not.
Was just the usual questions they ask if you call for a selling limit increase.
Was told by a friendly foreign call centre worker she liked my listing and wished she could buy it lol! Listing and account reinstated no problem.

| Still preferable to not call in for a selling increase, friendly foreign rep or not |

Obviously the forum is helpful for new information, however I have no experience of an account being banned/limited etc because of a telephone call.
I know people mention they have had accounts linked etc but that isn't a result of calling in. If you are selling good stuff, are making accounts correctly and can provide the standard stuff they can ask for, I don't see any reason whatsoever to call in (my experience in the UK)

I had this on about 4 accounts that I created as it had happened on a newly created one.
I've been getting hit with it if you list within the first 10 days of opening the account. They will ask you to call and then ask how you are going to dispatch the items etc and what you sell Quote:

Are you ageing either the PayPal or eBay accounts or just jumping straight in?

It's the order you create the accounts in that causes this.
I've set up over 70 accounts in the last month and haven't had this on any of them.

I also haven't had this problem at all.
Not sure why you are getting hit with it each time...

All seems fine now, I am hitting these new accounts hard, due to product. Also is it better to setup paypal or ebay account first?

I think it is the category that i am listing in which is causing problem. I just had another MC999 because i went back to first category, thinking everything was ok again after reading posts.
