My Paypal got limited today as well. The eBay/Paypal account was purchased from a seller on here. I noticed as I was trying to list an item and was getting some error about Paypal email not being valid. I login into my Paypal account and find out its been limited with reason:

Account access limited- For reasons relating to the safe use of the paypal service we need some more information about you and your account to help confirm identity. Also says cannot be appealed.

The strange thing though was I never received any email from Paypal telling me my account is limited. The eBay account linked is still active and has been running for some months, never had any complains, 100% feedback and not one case opened on Paypal. Limit had been automatically extended several times to almost 10K in about 3 months. The account was under a year old though.

Due to the number of people that have had their Paypal accounts limited recently, I suspect Paypal may now have a software which detects stealth accounts somehow or they have people checking docs at random hence why some accounts are still running but it may be only a matter of time.

For sure they're using new methods to find stealth accounts. Now we have to figure out how they're doing it and through which patterns and beat them back at their game.

It will be a good idea to form a template for all members that have been limited to put all the account details to help with this.

1. Name/address solution used
2. Phone number method (VOIP, prepaid)
3. VCC used
4. VBA/Bank accounts used
5. IP address solution
6. Permanent limitation or asked for docs?
7. Account age?
8. eBay account in good standing?
9. Any possible links in the past or risky behavior in this account?
10. Any other details specific to this account

This will help to start creating patterns!

I was just about to upload docs. It says they will check the details against the credit agencies or you can press cancel and send in the documents.

I pressed cancel and it took me back to my summery. Is there anyway of uploading the documents without them checking against the agency first?

You let the agency check fail twice then it asks for documents that isn't anything new

Anyone had this "help confirm identity" limitation with newer account that not lift the EU1900 receiving limit yet?

I had 1 eight months old that all limit lifted account down in NOV.but others with receiving limit uk paypals still running good.

So I bet its the docs. They are returning check the docs you uploaded before and anything fishing they just close your account.

I have just received a limitation. No email, seems to be the same as everyone else.

On signing in theres a red banner at the top with the words

'Your account access is limited
Learn how to remove this limitation'

When you click on the link 'learn how to remove this limitation' it takes you to page with a yellow box and a yellow/red exclamation mark, next to it, it says

'Limited account information: Your account is still limited, why?'

When you click on why, it takes you to a page that says this:

Why is my account access limited?

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

9 Dec 2014: For reasons relating to the safe use of the PayPal Service we need some more information about you and your account to help confirm your identity.

However I cannot see on any page where it says 'this limitation can not be appealed against'

There are no options for me or steps to follow. Is this the same as what everyone else is receiving?

Nope.

There were purges on the 4th December.

Might be a slight reduction in numbers but still happening.

I've had 3 - 15th (x2) and 29th and have seen the reports from 4th/5th/6th. Hoping those three dates are the end of it but I fear that's wishful thinking!

I do wonder why it's happening in these waves? Very odd.

Anyone think theres any chance of eB being more relaxed about other payment options when they go their separate ways? It's starting to look like the PP days may be numbered.

Personally, Im surprised that eBay have been permitted to be as restrictive as they have been regarding payment methods. One can only hope that the future is more flexible in this respect
