Paypal Limited WTF
 

So today I got 1 account permanently limited with this message:

Dear XXX


We recently noticed an issue with your account.

What's the problem?

Since this is a new account, we want to make sure your information is
secure. We need some additional information to able to confirm your
identity.

Case ID Number: PP-003-xxx-xxx-xxx



BUT the account is 2 and a half years old, the ebay account is a top rated silver power seller DSR 5.0 5.0 4.9 5.0 1651 feedback at 99.8%


Does anyone know why this might have happened, my other 7 accounts are ok but this was my oldest & best account.

You might want to have a read around, it's happening a lot, seems PayPal have changed some methods and stealth's are being rooted out.

I have been reading but it's a bit concerning seems I have 7 other accounts ranging from 2 1/2 - 1 year old, don't want to be out of business at this crucial time. Worked my arse off on these all top rated and all either 100 - 99.8% feedback

Have you bought that account or have you got the ID from any seller for removing paypal receiving limit?

I bought the ID from a seller over 2 years ago & made the account myself

I lost 3, two of which were over 1 yr old, 100% feedback, no refund, returns etc..

It's pretty bad at the moment, so I would expect the worst, doesn't seem to be an awful lot you can do about it.

Hopefully you won't lose all of your accounts.

I think they are just working in chronological order maybe?

In theory the older one's have bigger limits, which is a higher risk, ergo.. they are the one's to get first.

Well lets say this, I lost a 2 year old PayPal on the 27th November, same limitation as others....

An obvious question, Has anybody rang paypal to speak to them? Try and keep them on the phone to dig out more information.

Half of them cannot understand what these permanent limitations are for...certain info has been requested by some reps to resolve the issue but as usual it's not happened with everyone.

Same reason, same message. Both these account were created in the same week by myself, both ID's were purchased on this forum & sent to confirm about March 2013 to lift limits.

One of the accounts only had a 200 / £3800 limit the one gone this morning had 1980 / £20,000 which I could never go near even if I tried

I honestly think there is some serious linking going on.

I may be totally wrong as others have asserted.

My guess is that Paypal are using some kind of new software or algorithm to link accounts in some way.

However I bet it is seriously flawed.

The other possibility is that they are scanning docs held over a period of time.

Something does not make sense to me with this option.

There is certainly a pattern of members losing more than one account usually in rapid succession.

That usually suggests linking.

Again, I may be wrong. But I am leaning towards them using some kind of software update that is resulting in these issues.

I don't know how as my accounts are SOLID, never had a problem with a PP acc. for over 2 years now

We are trying to make sense of Paypal's rubbish systems.

Did you have esavers attached or was it current accounts with direct debits?
My guess is they know its a stealth account if no direct debit, then therefafter they check public record to match name /address.

These 2 were both current accounts, my others are attached to savers but there all still running but my others are 18 months old

There are loads of indicators that an account is stealth. We've always thought up until now that keeping cookies separate and using a clean IP would mean everything would be okay.

Let's face it 99% of UK stealth accounts have got Entropay, 3V or similar attached. They only need to search for accounts with about 8 different BINs and they could shut down virtually all stealth accounts across the board. There are now companies involved with Paypal that are more than capable of doing this analysis and closing such accounts.

If it was a limitation related to your transactions, they would have asked for supplier invoices, cc statements, etc, etc.

Feel your pain truly, as ebayorbust said there is mention of these new companies in paypal terms and conditions.
As painful as it is for the hard work and effort you maintained these accounts, you may have to sit it out this peak season till someone here comes up with a long term solution.

I have just got paranoid and logged into some of my accounts and all are fine

My oldest is 2 years today.

I have about 24 in total.

However I must admit they have only been lightly used.

And all have Entropay Cards attached.

Personally I don't think Entropay is the issue.

However a new way of risk profiling accounts could be the culprit.

I am pretty stressed at the moment.

Reading stories on here reminds me of when PP locked up 12k of my cash a few years ago.

Its not worth thinking about.

Is this something to do with ID's? a lot of people's accounts going down have purchased ID's, could it be that they have now able to check up driving license numbers?

Update:

Just been on my other computer which had 4 accounts on which I don't use & don't have bank accounts added, I purchased these from a seller on this forum in March this year and have all been limited.

It says they came verified when purchased so yes they will have had ID & docs sent.

You mean purchased not created as you bought them.
How did you know the date blocked if you have not logged into them for months? Did you receive an email?

The little or no feedback is interesting indicating hardly any trading history.

Accounts may have been linked to account creation times, traced back to mass production within narrow timescales from a particular seller.

It just occurred to me.

This is almost like a cancer spreading.

Say they recheck ID as some are saying with their new friends systems.

They decide one is phony on their new system.

They will then attempt to link that account to others by any means possible.

Including to those mass produced at roughly the same time.

Their way of thinking is:

If they are pretty sure one is bogus, other accounts that appear at roughly the same time with similar traits are also bogus.

You quote 4 were blocked on the 15th of November yet you only logged into them today?

Please clarify.
