Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Alleged PayPal scheme nets $115,000, lands Boise man in jail | OregonLive.com

Just read this. 400 accounts in a year. There had to be more to it. This is actually something I do worry about when I open accounts.

He wasn't too smart when he used his name on all those Bank Accounts....

This guy is so stupid, I hope he hasn't reproduced.......

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

400 Bank Accounts is just Crazy, I'm sure that alone had banks sending reports on him

K9 Assists in Arrest of Wanted Suspect; Detectives Bust Man after Scheme means Big Losses to PayPal; BPD Daily Incident Report - City of Boise

found this too. haha at least he used a variety of names.

says the bank contacted police. i feel like there has to be more to this. I wonder if he had inside help and jipped them and they went to the police. For them to go to the police seems odd unless someone in the bank knew exactly what he was doing.

because of idiots like this guy less people buy online and sellers pay high fees, 115k for 400 bank accounts thats so stupid

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Keep in mind to he was reported to "not shipping" the items.

Basically leaving every Paypal account dry and ditching it...

Were legit sellers on here, thats completely different.

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

i get that part but how does the bank know that. ive had stealth situations with banks and they have called and if they didnt like what i had to say they just closed the accounts. i just feel like somebody mustve told the bank exactly what he was doing.

haha but the bigger question is how the heck did he get past the 21 day hold so many times. and not get limited.

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Things like that happen from time to time. But it's not possible to compare to our work. Because we just want to stay under the radar and have happy customers that our accounts were not closed or blocked.
The concept of the guy seems to me a complete other thing. He seemed to lure ppl to send money but sending nothing in return.
Bottom line we sometimes work against ebay if they don't want to work with us. This guy worked against his customers. So in my books there's no real compare.

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Because doing "stealth" is not illegal. All we are doing is breaking eBay/paypal policy.

Leaving a negative balance in a paypal account with your bank account attached IF repeated patterns like this guy then yes its a federal issue. Obviously 400 is a pattern. There has to be a strong reason to devote time and energy to track someone down like this.

There is absoulety no reason the feds would care if we TAX PAYERS are making a living doing what we do. Stealth done proper is not illeagal, thats the only thing that matters.

The guy got what he deserved, was simply scamming the system and people like him are the reason fees keep going up. That's not what this forum promotes, stealth done properly is not illegal as sole stated.

Did you read the computer crime code at the bottom of that article? Holy smoke sounds scary even if you are doing legit biz.

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

That can't even be considered remotely close to proper stealth operations - pfft fraud

danshan 01-17-2015 10:40 AM

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Rsot elaborate? It sounds exactly like stealth to me of course im not in Idaho but I am sure the law is similar nationwide

danshan 01-17-2015 10:44 AM

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Computer crime.*(1) Any person who knowingly accesses, attempts to access or uses, or attempts to use any computer, computer system, computer network, or any part thereof for the purpose of: devising or executing any scheme or artifice to defraud; obtaining money, property, or services by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises; or committing theft; commits computer crime.

It says any person who uses a computer to obtain money by false pretenses is that not stealth?

danshan 01-17-2015 10:46 AM

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

That is scary especially with me i have all my income from stealth and it is a hell of alot more money than this guy EVEN though he was actually stealing.

rsot 01-17-2015 10:48 AM

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Well danshan...he was doing fraud so ppl of course complained...and criminal investigation done. If you are doing good operations and customers are happy...I wouldn't worry. This loser fraudster probably also stiffed on paying eB fees...

danshan 01-17-2015 10:53 AM

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

The question is how is stealth legal? I mean looking at that, it looks as if it absolutely is not. Anybody on here got any legal background or a lawyer cousin?

sdot10 01-17-2015 07:51 PM

Re: Stealth Gone Wrong? Insane

Thats my thing danshan. definitely has me a big nervous. just because we arent scamming people doesnt mean its legal. im still looking into it more. i really HOPE there is more to it that brought the cops aboard.
