| | | Dan T. | 05-11-2015 05:50 AM | EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly Hey guys.
I am not THAT new to stealth anymore. Yet I am trying to crack something and avoid making this mistake again. But first I need help identifying my mistake. Not sure what I did wrong.
I am absolutely certain I follow stealth principles when I go about creating Stealth accounts. Needless to say that I change IP address, I create diff windows user, I make sure to use an active phone # etc.
Now...
Many times EB sends me an email shortly after I've created a seller account, saying that my acc is restricted temporaly and that the restriction can only be lifted when I send in ID and some other details.
WHAT exactly triggers this kind of email?!
How to avoid this so they never contact me with this request?
Anybody can tell for sure?
Many thanks for your help.
UPDATE: It is an EB UK account that I am talking about. |
| spindoctor | 05-11-2015 07:17 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly What are you using for an IP address? Vpn? |
| Dan T. | 05-11-2015 07:22 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly VPN is not needed.
I have UK accounts that I use with local-dynamic IP address.
Sounds strange doesn't it. IP address is not the issue here though.
Something else triggers this email and I went through it successfully several times, because all I had to do was click on some link and start chat with an EB rep.
But this time the chat ended up badly, and they require ID and utility bill. |
| GreenBean | 05-11-2015 07:27 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly New user account?
IP different from any other you have used?
Actual notice from ebay after what activity?
Payment source attached to account, if any? |
| Bunneh | 05-11-2015 07:35 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly How soon after creating an account are you listing your first item for sale?
Do you browse ebay first and add items to watch list to build cookies?
As not doing both of these first can trigger the MC notice. |

Payment source attached to account, if any? | Yes, as I mentioned, I follow stealth principles by using an IP that I have not used before.
I use a unique Windows user, too.
Payment source: Verified PP. |

As not doing both of these first can trigger the MC notice. | Honestly, I create an account, link it to a verified PP, then I click on 'Sell' and I upload some £1 item with a real phone # (to go through the phone verification thing as soon as I have an active phone #).
I browse before I create an account, add items to watch list and build cookies for several days.
Here is the email I get from EB:
Hello *Username*,
We regularly review accounts to keep eBay a safe and fair marketplace for our members. As part of our security checks, we sometimes require a seller to contact us so that we can verify their information.
To verify your account, please contact us by clicking on the link below (you may be asked to sign in):
*Link*
While we're waiting on your response, we've temporarily placed a selling hold on your account. This hold will prevent you from listing new items. Also, if you had any active listings, we've removed them, and placed them in your Unsold folder. We credited any associated fees to your account.
Once we verify your account information, you'll be able to start selling again right away. You'll also be able to relist items from your Unsold folder by clicking Relist to the right of the listing.
Thank you for helping us to keep eBay a safe and fair marketplace. We appreciate your help in verifying your account as quickly as possible.
Here are the listings we removed:

Thanks,
eBay
What do you think? |
| RosieTosie | 05-11-2015 03:51 PM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly A few days browsing probably is not enough, not really chance to build up enough cookies to keep ebay happy, worth leaving it longer than that before listing. |
| Dan T. | 05-12-2015 02:09 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly I am not very convinced that it's the cookies that triggers this automated email.
Something else is causing it, I am pretty sure.
By the way, what if I browse similar websites and even login in the same accounts (Such as FB, Gmail etc.) across multiple Windows user accounts? |

Data is not shared like that. |
| Ebayorbust | 05-12-2015 02:39 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly Do the Paypal accounts have bank accounts and confirmed card?
How exactly are you getting a dynamic UK IP address from Israel?
What method do you use to pay fees when setting up the seller account? Paypal or VCC?
More details on the phone numbers used as well? Mobile? Landline? |
Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly What is your IP Dan T.? |
| GreenBean | 05-12-2015 04:43 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly Really do need fuller amount of info. |
| Dan T. | 05-12-2015 05:55 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly Guys I appreciate you trying to help me, but I am only asking this simple question...
What would normally trigger this automatic email?
How many times did you receive this email from EB?
What did you do then? |
| RosieTosie | 05-12-2015 06:08 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly Dan T, you have been asked questions on here in replies to this question, you have been given suggestions about why you may be getting these emails from ebay as soon as you create your seller accounts, but your replies are along the lines that YOU do not think formum members replies apply to your situation. Clearly people will just stop replying to you if your only reply isn't that you think these things don't apply to you. All we can do is advise you where we think you are going wrong, the trick for you is to take that advice and apply it to your accounts and make it work for you. |
| Dan T. | 05-12-2015 09:05 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly Ok.
Yes, my PP is fully verified. I use a forwarding service. I use stealth info on my accounts. I use an IP address from my ISP but it is an UK IP address.
IP address is literally unrelated to this email.
I have ran many accounts withno issues at all, while others get this verification request shortly after I created an account.
I guess there is no clear answer to how to avoid this email.
Maybe I should be more patient before I list an item for sale.
Thanks again. |

Thanks again. | Where you getting your uk phone numbers from? Do you pay for them or is it a free service?
Sounds like it could be this since it is ebay only. |
| Dan T. | 05-13-2015 04:03 AM | Re: EB wants docs, but I wonder why exactly I've found a web which offers forwarding numbers for a fee, except UK numbers which are 100% free to use.
I tested it before I created an account on EB with this phone # |

One success on one account does not make this a winner.
Free & ebay are often dangerous companions.

:deadhorse: | Worked on each and every of my 5 accounts.
The problem is when I get this verification email. I really strive to find out if EB sends this email randomly or as a result of very specific cause.
The email does not necessarily mean 'death sentence' but some times it does... When they ask for ID proof, etc.
Thanks for your input. |
