Default My USB died

My USB with all of my account info and IP logs on it died. I have a backup on my main user account thats about 2 weeks old.

When I plug in the USB it runs VERY hot and the computer does not recognize it. Same with another computer I tried. I've only had this specific 8gb USB for 3 months

Does anyone recommend a specific USB brand that is reliable or know a better solution to keeping my account info and IP logs?

Thanks as always!

I would not confuse my self with a brand name, since it has a little or nothing to do with drive failure. If I need say 16GB of drive space, I would have 2 or 3 16GB drives and keep my data mirrored on each drive. That is a basic principle of RAID storage and that should solves everyone's problem of redundancy.

In future I would use dropbox or onedrive on each user account on each pc to keep your ip log. Then its safe in the cloud and automatically updated in seconds each time you log on and connect to the net.

This was my fear and why I have multiple backups. You need a titanium usb drive that protects against rain, fire , tornados etc... Do those exist ???

Ha! Thanks for all of the responses. I'm convinced I ran it to it's death because I kept the USB plugged into my computer for weeks at a time without unplugging it.

I may go the cloud route. Seems easier

Thanks

I use these USBs: http://www.amazon.com/Integral%C2%AE...rds=secure+usb

Comes with added security, just in case.

Search for "ironkey". Top notch for security (Military grade hardware encryption), as a bonus a very solid build you can count on. But still, multiple backup is necessary. But it comes with a downside, pricey as hell.

I keep my information in spreadsheets in several spots and email myself a spreadsheet daily so I can go in my inbox from anywhere and get it. Also upload to 2 dropbox locations, my harddrive, print a copy, etc daily.

I use VMware and all of the IP/login info for each account is held on a notebook file on the desktop of that VM in addition to my spreadsheets as well

Bad business to have logins and passwords in a single place, even if on paper.

Create a Google document on your main Google account and manage it, Copy it to your mobile phone as well as in your lappy/computer.
