Question about new Paypal Frozen Account Operating Procedure?
I sold a 4K curved TV for $4000 and got my account 'frozen' by which I mean they are asking for pictures of my drivers license SS card ect. Buyer has already received the item and is happy with it. They said I'll never get the funds (not even after 6 months) unless i provide them with a scan of my ID and social security card, because of some BS federal anti-money laundering laws they can hold it forever now.
I had something similar like this happen to me before, I called paypal and I said look you can close my account, but you can't just hold my funds on a completed transaction that the buyer says he's received it and he's happy with. So they didn't unfreeze my account, but they did let me withdraw the remaining balance immediately via bank transfer.
Question 1) Whats the CURRENT standard operating procedure when your account gets frozen with CLEARED funds in it? Or is it random? Sometimes they release, sometimes they say no wait 6 months, sometimes they only allow you to withdraw a check by mail, sometime apparently never?
Question 2) Faking a drivers license (even if you don't make a physical copy) is super illegal right?
