| ciboulette0612 | 08-04-2018 06:03 AM | verowatch Hello.
Does any of you have ever receive a mail from Verowatch ?
Here it is. i can't find any informations about this company. not sure it's a scam or not
Hi
We have just removed one listing from iOffer for copyright infringement, that being a criminal offence.
I can see from your feedback you have made many sales in the past and offering more of our other peoples copyrighted work too.
If you agree to pay our clients legal fees for our services, those being £395 pounds sterling, we will not proceed further with legal action, that being with the Police, Interpol and PayPal.
If you pay our clients costs, then we shall issue you with a 'Out of Court settlement' letter on condition you do not upload our various clients work again in the future.
We are only concerned with out clients work, not the other listings.
If you do not agree or reply, then we shall proceed and remove your account in full as well as report your details to PayPal, who will verify your true details, and also freeze your account pending an investigation as well as they report to law enforcement agencies worldwide as do we too.
This email is being tracked.
Please advise.

| dachilla | 08-04-2018 08:22 AM | Re: verowatch Seriously? That's the most unprofessional try I've seen in my life.
I have seen lots of C&D letters / emails. But if this really is the whole content of the mail, then it's way to unprofessional to be taken seriously. Have you checked what email address it was sent from? looks very much like some spam got though.
You can PM me if you need further advise.
Cheers

Have you looked at their website? it looks like something put together in the 1990's. |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-04-2018 04:11 PM | Re: verowatch yes it seems weird. but they have a Twitter account. .. well that probably doesn't mean anything.
they ask me to send money to verowatch@verowatch.com |
| joanna4051 | 08-04-2018 04:13 PM | Re: verowatch OMG. Seriously?
Would you also pay if you got a call from IRS telling you you have to pay or go to jail?
Are scams not prevalent in the UK? |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-04-2018 04:42 PM | Re: verowatch no i won't... but i will think about it if the mail come from what is seems a "legit " mail nrginternational@gmail.com which is referenced on a (ugly and empty) website and a twitter account..
i searched on google about verowatch and found some answers on ebay forum.
that's why i was worried. |
| applebaum | 08-04-2018 04:56 PM | Re: verowatch They are using a gmail account - that should be a sign enough this is BS.
Question - is that the actual letter they sent you or is that your translation?
Are your items still posted for sale? |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-04-2018 04:59 PM | Re: verowatch Yes it's the exact text
My items ars still on sale
and the 2e mail i received :
You can use PayPal to: verowatch@verowatch.com
Please include your iOffer username in the description so we can identify the payment and forward you your out of court settlement letter to your email address.

| applebaum | 08-04-2018 05:10 PM | Re: verowatch In my opinion - this clown company is trying to scam you.
I just visited their website - WOW is it unprofessional. From the copy (written text) to the images, it screams scammer.
Also - that letter is terrible. The grammar is so poor I could hardly understand it. A legitimate company acting on behalf of clients would ensure to use proper English grammar and punctuation.
Again just my opinion (and dachilla and MM78's) but this is a total scam. Just ignore it and keep on selling your stuff on ioffer. |
| dallis | 08-04-2018 05:54 PM | Re: verowatch So very obviously a scam, but you seem to really want to pay, so go ahead and send them some money. They'll be back so be sure you've got your bank account warmed up.
Tell them to send the police straight to your house, right now, you're waiting, hands out ready to be cuffed. |
| dachilla | 08-05-2018 12:10 AM | Re: verowatch Guys, cool down a bit. OP is French, so English isn't his mother tongue. Thus he might be easier to scare by badly written mails. |
| 13obby | 08-05-2018 02:49 AM | Re: verowatch A load of crap don’t pay lol |
| ouako | 08-05-2018 01:07 PM | Re: verowatch Just remember. It costs $0.99 to get a domain name, and setup email forwarding. If a "company" is too cheap to get a domain email, especially if they work for "verowatch", I would not believe it.
If it came from something like "payments@verowatch.com" I would be more likely to believe it. However since it came from a gmail account, I would just report it as spam, and move on. |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-05-2018 01:50 PM | Re: verowatch thanks for all guys
i'm just going to ignore this mail :) |

| muzzie | 08-06-2018 06:20 AM | Re: verowatch Scam.
1) Very weak English, legal language used by real law agencies is absolutely different.
2) Site not working.
3) No any exact names in the letter.
4) Money demands from the second paragraph.
5) Noone would contact you through the phone, email or any other similar electronic means, as legally only a registered letter is deemed as an acceptable communication method in such cases. |
Re: verowatch Absolute garbage e-mail OP.
@ciboulette0612, if you're selling so hot to get these kind of e-mails....you will need a thicker skin and more knowledge, just saying :) |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-06-2018 06:38 AM | Re: verowatch not too hot at all. i don't think so :) $150 good months..
i have received other scams i have ignored by the past.. but this one, don't know why worried me a bit |

| ciboulette0612 | 08-07-2018 03:04 PM | Re: verowatch was not a scam....all my ioffer items have been removed. |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-07-2018 03:12 PM | Re: verowatch i can see you read the last email and have ignored it.
We have suspended your iOffer account in full.
We will now be reporting your items sold over three years to PayPal Crime unit and Interpol at https://www.interpol.int/
We will be able to work with PayPal to obtain your real details for prosecution and will be prosecuting for two of our clients.
PayPal will freeze your account pending an investigation into your sales made. |

was not a scam....all my ioffer items have been removed. | They could watch your account and once they see everything is removed - send you that letter. Not sure how it works with iOffer, but with eBay it is easy to put some kind of monitoring on certain accounts doing same things, like selling VERO, and once they are "no longer a registered user" - send them happy letters. |

i have no choice, i have to pay.. | You can check their banking details, would be nice to see. Also, you need all their corporate details and proofs of if they are allowed to represent these offended brands. They MUST provide these papers if they are legit. |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-07-2018 04:07 PM | Re: verowatch they warned me at 3pm and asked me too answer under 24 hours. and 7 hours later my account is closed.... |

I had when a company from Russia was trying to sue me for breaking some intellectual rights, but they have failed to contact me from Europe, as I don't care about non-EU companies. Same here, they should provide pretty specific documents so you would just start considering their statements at all. |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-07-2018 04:15 PM | Re: verowatch i'm in big trouble. they don't want to let me pay anymore because i didn"t answer to their mails.. |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-07-2018 04:19 PM | Re: verowatch Sorry,* no, there is nothing to answer.*
We gave you an opportunity to resolve the situation amicably, you said you would resolve the matter out of Court by paying our clients legal fees of 1 hour, there has now been 2 hours of work on this situation.
You ignored our emails to resolve the matter.
Therefore we will be proceeding with legal action tomorrow. |

Re: verowatch The unanimous consensus amongst users here is this sounded like a scam. There is a reason for this. This chap who reached out to you was asking you for money, and making threats otherwise. These are red flags of extortion.
I don't know why your listings were removed from ioffer, but if I was in your predicament, and I speak only for myself here, I still wouldn't pay this chap. From reading your messages, they were contacting you from a GMAIL account, doesn't look like it was even in their company name.
Furthermore they asked for payment, usually they wouldn't ask for such payments via PayPal.
Everything still sounds too fishy.
Have you asked ioffer why your listings were removed, instead of wasting time with this chap? |
| ciboulette0612 | 08-08-2018 02:22 AM | Re: verowatch yes i have a message explaining my suspension : Account has been suspended by ioffer cop verowatch about 2 items for violating third party intellectual property.
yes it smells like a scam but indeed my answers to their mails were tracked with confirmation and time when i opened it.. |

You thought it was a scam. Tell them how there are others imitating their company sending scam emails like this, so you had good reason to doubt the authenticity of their emails. |
