Activity: 0% Longevity: 70% | | Genuine account suspended MC999
So I opened an eBay account last month (all completely legit). I've been on eBay since 2004 as a Gold power seller, but opened this new account to buy.
Anyway, I bought quite a few quite expensive items expensive items on the new account (probably a stupid thing to have done) and my account got suspended as a result. I sent off my ID documents, and they reinstated it after about a week.
Now 3 weeks after reinstatement & more buying (always paid right away with Paypal), they've suspended me again. Customer service over the phone is a waste of time, as is contacting LiveChat. The people at Live Chat say..: "I certainly unsderstand your frustration that you can no longer have this account reinstated. Rest assured that we don't take action against a member unless we're confident they've breached an eBay policy. We investigate accounts thoroughly and will not take action unless we have the relevant evidence. You no longer need to send any documents to us."
So apparently I'm banned from eBay...for doing nothing. No surprise there I suppose, but what are my chances of getting reinstated?
How should I proceed with this, as customer service aren't saying anything?

Can you post the suspension message they sent you here?
If it is permanent you have no choice but to open a new account - try a different spelling for your name so you would still get your mail but you won't get linked.

Def need to see the reason/message why you were suspended to discuss further.

Tell me please, was it just the Buyer account that was suspended?

You really have upset someone - is your name linked to Greece or Italy? Perhaps they don't like your credit rating!!
Seriously - I have no idea - I have never heard of that unless they found a discrepancy in your details

MC999 is a generic suspension. Quite a few being handed out across ebay US & ebay UK.
If the OP's paypal got a limitation then it's not unreasonable that new account got zapped.
There's also been a lot more than usual of the left hand of ebay not having a clue what the right hand of ebay is doing. Be wary of this as we come on to holidays' selling fun
But there's more to this than we have been told PLUS the Op has not come back to give more info

1) Are These 2 Ebay accounts are the Linked to 2 SEPERATE Paypal accounts?
2) On the Buying account did you Open a Dispute against a Seller?
3) On the Buying account did you Report a Listing?

Their MC999 message:
"Your eBay account has been suspended because recent account activity has raised serious security concerns. We've taken this precaution to protect our members while we make sure that the activity doesn't cause harm--even unintentionally--to the eBay community.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use eBay in any way. This includes using another existing account or registering a new account.
Any outstanding fees are due immediately, and any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file."
They don't really the cause specifically, and when I spoke to the rude idiots on live chat, they said :
"I'm afraid we’re not allowed to divulge specific information about what led us to take action. By revealing this, we could help members’ intent on breaching the policy to avoid detection.
I'm sorry to tell you that we can no longer reinstate your account.
I'm sorry that your account is suspended. I will now be closing down this chat. However, no further assistance will be given to you in this Live Chat session at this time. Thanks for using Live Help. "
The account was completely legit, and the only possible thing that might have caused concern was spending quite a lot in a short period of time (as the account was under 2 months old).
I have other eBay accounts, and none of them became affected. I was able to log into them with no problem.
My Paypal account is also completely fine, although I had opened a Paypal dispute against someone for not sending me an item (from a different eBay account). As I say, I have multiple eBay accounts all sharing the same Paypal info.
Anyway, after sending them my ID documents and regardless of them saying it could never be reinstated, it was shortly after.

I think one of the possible reasons is that you used your paypal account for several ebay accounts.
I always prefer 1 paypal account for 1 ebay account.
Other reasons:
- Someone used details which are similar to yours or someone used your internet connection on a suspended account.
Sometimes you can get linked to accounts because of this, it would ebay's mistake but they of course do not care.

I've had 4 eBay accounts linked with the same Paypal one for years and no issues. I think the only thing that got me banned was spending too much on the new account.

I Have seen Ebay suspend Buyer accounts that open To Many Claims,,I have also see Buyers Lose accounts that Open only 1 Claim when Either that claim is Proven to be False or that account is linked to other Buyer accounts BOTH active and Suspended that have opened Multiple Claims against sellers,,,
that is why I asked about the Claim that you opened,,It was Large enough for Ebay to take a Closer look at you and Your account/accounts

Well it's the only thing that I can think that might have triggered it. Everything else is normal.
It's weird also how my other accounts didn't get suspended/linked.
