eBay UK - Soft Restriction
Hi,
Along with the recent suspension / limitation wave, I encountered this email on different account's with different information (not linked, coincidence)
SUBJECT: eBay account restriction
CONTENT:
Hello xxxaxxxx,
We regularly review accounts to keep eBay a safe and fair marketplace for our members. As part of our security checks, we sometimes require a seller to contact us so that we can verify their information.
To verify your account, please contact us by clicking on the link below (you may be asked to sign in):
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
While we're waiting on your response, we've temporarily placed a selling hold on your account. This hold will prevent you from listing new items. Also, if you had any active listings, we've removed them, and placed them in your Unsold folder. We credited any associated fees to your account.
Once we verify your account information, you'll be able to start selling again right away. You'll also be able to relist items from your Unsold folder by clicking Relist to the right of the listing.
Thank you for helping us to keep eBay a safe and fair marketplace. We appreciate your help in verifying your account as quickly as possible.
Here are the listings we removed:
2xxxx4xxxxx - xxxxxxxxxSxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks,
eBay
I contacted their live support, expecting to be asked to phone up to restore the account, but proved me wrong and we managed to have it lifted.
He asked me some database questions like the items I intend to sell; if I have a supplier; if I am willing to provide documentation to eBay in future etc. and once I'd answered them, the account was instantly restored again.
It seems like he was reading from a form and he was pasting the answers into it - I don't see the need for staff, simply allow us to answer those questions via an automated form to have it restored.
These sudden issues with eBay are increasing. Had this soft restriction before? Was it lifted for you as easy as it was me?
