Are you basing your concern to have started this thread on your instincts
from text chats please ?
Do you have copies of any of your text chats please ? |
I couldn't retrieve a transcript from that chat but I've reached out to eBay again and had this conversation with Vincent: https://image.ibb.co/kVF04k/spa.png https://image.ibb.co/dX2PVQ/Capture.png https://image.ibb.co/kNmjVQ/Ca4pture.png INFORMATION ACCURATE AS AT 22:03 PM - 29TH JULY 2017 |
| Hercules | 07-29-2017 04:34 PM | Re: eBay Browser Fingerprinting I used the prescribed 'canvas defender' on some accts. It wanted the phone number question to know who you you are on every one. I think all of you are F.O.S. so to be important on his site...pathetic. |

| That's some way to spend a Saturday evening - speaking with your "friends" at Ebay. :d
We already know they detect canvas because if you use canvas spoofing software it tells you when an attempt to record your canvas is made. The only thing that's debatable is to what extent it is used to link accounts. Given that hundreds of members on here have operated multiple ebay accounts for years without spoofing or blocking canvas, that to me would indicate that it's importance in account linking is low (certainly for the time being). |

That's not the point. If people recommend something without testing, at least let us know it is NOT tested to use 'canvas Defender'. I've been here longer than you have. Un written law is to never do such a thing and you know that. Ebay changes with the wind, don't you know that? |

| I've been using it for the last few months and created several hundred accounts in that time.
Just for the record, I'm not actually advocating that people need to use it either. I only use it due to the sheer volume of accounts that I create to help minimise the risks of links being made between accounts. Quote:

| Good for you.
I could tell you why you got the phone verification on your accounts but given your attitude, I'm not going to bother. :) |

So being here 9 months longer than EbayOrBust makes you some kind of hero does it?
If thats the case, then maybe try posting advice/questions more than once every 2 months (over someone who is actually online everyday) then you can actually use that idiotic comment..
But i for one would rather take advice from someone who makes up to 50 accounts a day over someone who makes one every couple of months... |

Wow Vincent really does type perfect and articulate English. Most of the text chat i have with people form eBay could not get a sentence out without a typo.
How long did this call take please ?
Was he in a specialist department of ebay or first line customer support please ? |

It wasn't a call, it was a live chat which I posted screenshots of above. It lasted about 15 minutes until the point where he refused to answer further questions pertaining to eBay.
He wasn't a specialized department, he was on the first tier of support.
Your questions would insinuate that it didn't happen - these aren't exclusive conversations, so I would suggest you to reach out to them yourself and I am sure you'll receive the same responses as did I for your gratification. You need to push them to give you detail, simply asking one question and then leaving it at that won't suffice. |

Yes I understand that and as you're a high-volume stealther, I'd take your experience of it seriously.
I posted them shots because another user wanted to see what eBay have been saying about it. |

It is easy to take text and "text chat" LOL out of context and read things that are not there.
I welcome you taking the trouble to give us your concerns
I know I do not have your skills and my questions were to discover as much information as possible about things I have no experience or skills to get the information myself.
My experience has been different on my use of text chat with eBay representatives.
Thanks you for sharing your concerns with us. |
