Hi everyone, signed up for a cashminder account but didn't want to send off my ID incase they got lost so made an appointment in branch. I'd already filled in an application and just wanted her to check my ID to approve the account. She seemed really taken back by this and wanted to do a full financial analysis for a basic account? I told her that wasn't necessary, she huffed and puffed and eventually took my documents to photocopy. She said it would be dealt with "centrally" and i'd hear back within 7-10 days, I've still not heard back and its been just over a week. Has anyone else had this before? I thought if i took my documents in, they'd just approve it right then and right there since I have no financial difficulty like bankruptcy.

Just open a basic bank account elsewhere whilst you wait on this, there are many to choose from. HSBC, Barclays, Natwest (if you already have an account with them, a savings account will do, and opening one is quick and easy).
