Sudden drop of listings visibility. Hidden limits?
 

Hi everyone, I´m having a big problem and I hope some experienced user can answer some questions.

I run a legit business and sell good products online. I temporarily lost my Top Rated Seller badge (account status went to Above Average) last October and on the 1st of November sales went down to the floor, more than 80% down. I worked very hard and got back the TRS badge the following month hoping sales would get back to normal but unfortunately today they are still 80% down compared to last year.

The account metrics are fine, I have been calling eBay and they say the account looks very good, and can only suggest doing some minor changes in the listings (titles, item specifics, etc) but I´m afraid the problem could be a hidden limit. All my listings are now in page 15-20 for important keywords while they used to be in the first positions. And new listings do not scale up to the first positions in Best Match as they used to do, they remain in the last positions no matter how many people buy the items.

Do you guys have experienced something like this in the past? Is this a famous hidden limit? Is this forever? I don´t know what to do, thankfully I still have Amazon but I´m having a hard time keeping up with business expenses with this sudden drop in sales. This is my main account, I have another smaller account which suffered the same fate around one month later, I suspect both accounts could be linked due to past mistakes :(

It will usually take 3 to 6 months to recover back to the same point you were at previously

Keep going and you will see them pick up again. Playing around with titles can also help

Any chance you've been incorporated into Ebay catalog while coincidentally losing TRS?

What do you mean by ebay catalog, Sunspot? My items are handmade, there are no other sellers selling them, not sure if that is what you mean.

If they are unique one off items you don’t need to worry about that then :)

Had another user report search results being entirely messed up which sank their sales. Any indication that your competitors are still relatively in the same spot in search?

Actually some of my competitors seem to be suffering similar issues. Maybe these are recent changes in the algorithm!?:confused:

Yea.. that makes more sense than it being from TRS.

Ebay is definitely changing a lot recently.

I don't believe they were able to find a quick solution to the algorithm change to get search position back.

It may be a matter of rebuilding sales velocity and re-ranking in search.

I improved titles and a few more things, but yet they still appear on page 20. I will keep playing with them.

Try a combination of dropping your prices temporary and use the promoted sales you might lose money at first but might be worth it in the long run

They are probably flagged your account for a dropshipping or item location misrepresentation.

I agree with above. Had the same issue
