royal mail tracking number on 2cnd class parcel query ?

has anyone any knowledge about royal mail tracking number on 1st, 2cnd class small parcels on none tracked items please ?

I bought an item to resell and the ebay tracking shows royal mail number , similar to #0604B950CB7.
I tried it on on their track site and also tried it on parcelforce to an avail flags up as an error .

generally their tracking numbers are 13 digits long end with GB, for recorded signed for and special delivery. I think parcel force is similar.

In the past I have bought paypal online postage royal mail for simple first and second class postage without tracking. Yet paypal have automatically sent a similar number that appears on ebay as a tracking number ?

1st and 2nd class mails (non-tracked service) do NOT have tracking numbers for you or your customers to trace your items. Those numbers are for internal tracking. If you're lucky, some postman is going to defy convention and scan it on delivery, but that's just pure luck.

RM 24 and 48 however, have got tracking numbers or to put it more correctly, delivery confirmation, and it would look like this: 32-048 441 1000-126 117 DDC

This number may show up immediately if you have it entered at the post office; otherwise, you'd have to wait for the postman to scan it on delivery.

1st Class / RM 24 has the same delivery timeframe but the difference in cost are only a few pennies which you can get back at the end of the year anyway.

We stopped using 1st class as it allows dishonest buyers an edge over us.
Since we switched to RM 24/48, our INR cases have gone from around 10 - 15 per day to about 1-4 a month.

On a final note, always best to buy your labels from RM. With eBay / PayPal, you're unlikely to get free delivery confirmation.

does it show 'delivered'?
In US,we can ship first class USPS letter with tracking, but once it leaves US,there is no further tracking, sometimes there is tracking 'in transit' but never 'delivered'.
so if the buyer files INR,we will lose.

Yes they do, looking at my orders I've done today. Buy your postage through ebay/paypal/click-and-drop and you get tracking in the format OP quoted via the QR code.

Those numbers are not for sellers or buyers to track items and postmen are instructed not to scan these. Why Royal mail does not make this information readily available is surprising to me. If you did not know, you can ring your Royal Mail account manager to explain the same to you.

The tracking format you get from eBay/PayPal is not the same you get from Click n drop OBA.
With eBay/PayPal, you get about 11 alphanumeric characters while it's double that on click n drop even if you're buying the same label, eg RM first class large letter.

Ebay will recognise it in the event of a claim.

Only if the postman scans it on delivery which only happens rarely these days.

I'll wager £5 that no more than 30% of your labels (non-tracked or signed for) bought on eBay /PayPal does will get scanned on delivery for your next dispatch coming up tomorrow, Monday.

I'll wager another £5 that if you instead purchase your next set of labels on a C & D account, at least 95% of these will be scanned on delivery.
