Interesting situation with new ebay
I moved house recently, so I had a new ISP and I used a computer that had never accessed ebay before.
Created a new ebay and paypal with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name (because I suspect that my real name is blacklisted), used a new real credit card that has never been used with ebay or paypal.
I bought some items to get a few feedback, then after a while I tried to list an item for sale.
It wouldn't let me proceed without verifying a phone number by SMS, but when I tried to add my new mobile that has not been used with ebay before, it said that they could not accept this number. Then it said the only option was to call or live chat to proceed.
I got worried that despite all the precautions they managed to link me to my previous ebay activities. Then I remembered this forum so came on here and saw the threads about all new accounts being suspended instantly.
Well, with nothing to lose I went to live chat. The agent said there was a problem with verifying the address, I said I did not understand then he said he would check with a supervisor. I thought I was cut off after that but about 15 minutes later he responded again and said the problem was the address had only one line???
To explain by example, the address I used to register was
10 Downing Street
LONDON
SW1A 2AA
The chat agent said he had to fix the problem by adding a second line. So after the chat ended I went to my registration page and the address was modified to:
10 Downing Street Upscale Residential Area
LONDON
SW1A 2AA
I was then able to list an item and sold it successfully.
What is even more interesting is the next day my old ebay account which had some restrictions on selling suddenly had its restrictions lifted. I used my phone data connection to check this in the hope that it won't get linked to the new one. So I tried listing an item on the old account, which was sold, and there was no more 21-day hold on the old paypal either!
I don't understand this at all but now I have two accounts which are working nicely.
