Genuine account banned after converting to seller account
Im stumped, any help would be really appreciated.
New Account opened with real details 3 weeks ago. Browsed and added cookies. Converted to seller account and banned 20mins later.
Address is clean. New Mobile SIM. Residential IP. VM used.
I got the whole “security risk” message. Opened a Live Chat and was told decision was final. Never actually listed an item.
The details I used are a family member (I have their permission of course) who did have an ebay buying account some years ago and can’t remember the details.
The only thing I can think of is geo-location on the IP. Address is in the south and IP would have been in the North but this seems rather drastic.
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

I get your meaning...i know i havnt used that IP with any other accounts but i have no way of knowing who else would have ever been assigned the IP by the ISP. I just assumed using one assigned by a company like Sky would be better than a VPN....at least in the beginning.
Reckon its worth a letter to ebay to see if they would reconsider?
Re: Genuine account banned after converting to seller account
Why do you guys keep coming on here saying you're banned and looking for advice without researching first? You guys use these shoddy IP services when this website sells you the IPs you need to avoid the issue you're having.
It's usually "idk what happened" then when pressed, come to find out you use some IP service none of us ever heard about before...

You can try contacting them again but result will be zero
Use Vodafone ip and you will not have issue on vmware

Sky is not a "shoddy IP service". I appreciate you have a US flag so may be unware. Sky broadband are a huge ISP in the UK. Its a residential provider. Perhaps research a little yourself before jumping someone? Surely you know Sky News right?

Live chat rarely reinstate, need to get them on the phone. Did you add a bank to PayPal ? Their using webgl and other finger printing methods i think to track you and Threat matrix, its automated if the system see's to much risk.

Never actually got as far as linking PayPal.
They must be using better finger printing. Using a VM i must have just presented as a risk. I did the usual browsing around for a couple of weeks...should have just used another browser.

No really a mystery the way I see it.
I have had multiple buying and selling accounts previously in the same details. Indeed ebay will actually advise you to open a new account if you cant remember the details of an old account.
Of course if that old account was suspended then thats different.
Re: Genuine account banned after converting to seller account
Everybody says it is IP related... but obviously you said you used residential IP. So, lets say the IP is not the problem, what else could be the problem?
Many other things... you could have logged in with the same IP/Device you used with another stealth account, you used the data of a person already registered, etc. etc.

What happened to these multiple accounts in the same details?
Yes ebay will tell you to open another account, it still doesn't stop them banning you. Many years ago, speaking to an ebay rep, they reeled off the account names I had and advised me to close them. I told them I couldn't as I can't remember the details and was told it would be ok if I didn't use them. A few hours later came the ban. This is when I learned to go stealth.
