Royal Mail Business Account Tracking
 

Hi, just wondering if anyone else uses Royal Mail 24/48

The tracking number which is now accepted by ebay is only scanned on delivery. Does this mean that ebay cannot see where the item is actually posted from?

It provides proof of delivery only. Nothing else.

Am i right in thinking they will only accept QR codes if purchased via them?

Yes, online delivery confirmation

So doesn't show where the item has come from.

Yes thats correct not worth using this service move to track service, alot of delay already in royalmail due to covid and short of staff

That's correct. eBay cannot see where the item has come from.

This is what I've used to evade policy violation on stealth accounts where you're expected to post out items local to your address.

There's a PO inside our business park - and during this pandemic, we had a staff scan some packs which they inserted into their own bags. (an evil thing to do, I know!) I'd find out from my colleague what became of the tracking.
At the time we were trying to 'hinge' late deliveries on Royal Mail to protect our accounts.

Quite frankly, regular tracking is the same thing if you use a business account.

All our 1st-class items with tracking numbers arrive (roughly) at the same time with our 'delivery confirmation only' items as long as they're in the same class.

The same two items; if the labels are purchased on eBay, or PayPal or anywhere else where you can get it scanned over the counter at the post office will deliver days or weeks earlier at the time compared to RM business account items even if you dropped it off at the same PO at the same time.

The simple explanation is: the delivery centres were short of staffs, yet overwhelmed with work. This lead to a decision to prioritise first foremost bags from the Postoffices over business customers. Royal Mail did not want a barrage of John does claiming for lost or delayed items.

Regarding business customers, you'd be required to count the pubic hair on a unicorn's genitalia to make a claim successfully.

RM played this one well.

Long as ebay dont know where it came from, thats good enough for me

But just as a FYI to everyone, I called Ebay and spoke to someone from the UK (or Dublin) and they said the item location has to be the location of warehouse, but you can actually post from anywhere. He then gave the example of posting an item from London to Yorkshire, he said you can use any post office in London (which covers a very large radius!)

Also, from past conversations, as long as tracking is updated within the handling time, it doesn't matter if it arrives late. (well, I think it was if the item is shown as delivered within 14 days after the estimated delivery date.) Long as tracking was uploaded on time, these defects can be removed (if item shows delivery within 14 days after estimated delivery)

I can confirm that with Royal Mail Tracked 24/48 you cannot see on the track trace page where its been posted from.

Only when it is delivered, the confirmation shows on the site that it has been delivered.
