eBay Suspended & PayPal Limited Forums - Can’t login since 2 step verification!

If you keep the same ISP and same device you can get away with deleting cookies. eBay wants SMS only if you change device or ISP. To them it looks like you’ve been hacked

That's mostly correct. It is the default way eBay operates - but that's not what this thread is about.

Following the implementation of 2-step verification, folks who haven't changed their ISP or devices have had difficulty getting access to their accounts.
We didn't delete cookies or change ISP or device for any accounts, yet all our accounts were recently affected.

There is no email option, you will be expected to add and maintain an active phone number.

I just had that happen on Chrome browser when I went to a new computer - I decided to try Edge browser for the hell of it and I was able to log in

I think you need to have verified the email option prior to this, that's why i wasn't getting the option on one of my accounts, as luck would have it i found the sim so managed to get in.

Getting confusing, the email option doesn't exist.

You need to add a mobile number, the person saying they needed to verify their email address was only asked to do so to ensure they were authorised to make changes to the account i.e. add a mobile number, which they did.

You won't randomly get the email option I don't think. I finally got through to a live chat agent who understood what I was talking about and added my details to a list of affected members (then you might get the email option). She also requested to change my phone number and 2 days later it was updated and I could log in.

I haven't once been asked to verify my phone number again though since that first succesful login.

Mine got email option and number, better add a new sim asap as I didn't realise some accounts only have the sim option !
